Product Description
To be, rather than to seem: It’s North Carolina’s state motto, and one adopted by local jeans maker Raleigh Denim. It stands for jeans made the old-school way—in small batches of about 300 pairs; slowly, with no automation, using hand-graded patterns and refurbished machinery from the glory days of denim in the Blue Ridge Mountains Read More

I've had my share of Levi and Banana Republic jeans prior to getting a few pairs of Naked and Famous through Massdrop. The Naked and Famous were a big step up from from the more mass-market pairs. These Raleigh Denim workshop jeans are an equal step up from Naked and Famous.
Construction and details are top-notch. The denim is high-quality, but will take a bit of time to break in.
Fit: Here's where it gets tough. Prior to purchasing, I compared these to my Naked and Famous Ichiban Denim in Weird Guy and saw a bit more generous dimensions. I figured that the slightly larger thigh etc. plus the inch they said the denim would stretch would net a good fit.
Well, I'm pulling out all the tricks to stretch them, because they're snug. In my opinion they do not fit any larger than the Ichiban Weird Guys. Which means that, unfortunately these will be a "sometimes wear" instead of a daily wear item. FWIW I'm 5'11" / 165 lbs with an athletic build. Going for the 31's nets a waist that's a touch loose and thighs and calves that are constrained by the fit. (FWIW the Karui Stretch in Weird Guy fit fine, they seem to be cut more generous than the Ichiban despite the same fit block).
MassDrop really needs to implement a returns policy for these items that are in-stock. I'm not sure that i'll be purchasing another pair of denim despite the great prices.
So, the denim is great, but MassDrop and their return policy is not.
A_is_AI completely agree: the jeans are well made, but Drop's (lack of a) return policy is terrible. It's impossible to know if clothing fits without trying it on.
Love the quality and details on these jeans. I would recommend ordering true to size and not smaller expecting them to stretch much. I ordered a waist size 33 (size 31 in the chart). I’m finding it is just too uncomfortably small on me and wish I had ordered the next size up. Anyone want this size?
Isaacn33” waist would be perfect for me, if I worked off like 10 lbs (halfway between my married weight and my college weight, lol). I’ve sadly had to admit “34inches” lately.
Ordered a 38 (I'm a 38 in most jeans) , and they're on the tight side through the waist and hips but they should stretch as they break in. The denim has a nice texture so they should wear in really nicely. They're a well made pair of American jeans that'll work for you if you have the patience to break em in.
*Update* Ripped a giant hole in the left knee just as they were starting to break in. The Kaihara Mills denim isn't the most durable denim out there, very little stretch to it makes it apparently easy to tear.
Great pair of jeans. Selvedge denim all the way! Quality is outstanding.
First pair of Raleigh's and I'm very happy with them. The denim weight is not too heavy (so you can wear them for most of the year) yet has enough to warrant time set aside to break them in. Making you earn your fit is one of the appeals of selvedge denim.
The fit is very much on the slim side with the front rise and thigh smaller than I'm accustomed to so if you have large thighs or prefer a roomier crotch/buttocks then you may want to look elsewhere. I'm finding them ever so snug in those areas which I know will get better as I break them in more. Just do your due diligence with your measurements and you should be fine.
Very much looking forward to seeing my fades set in over time! Curious to see how this Kaihara denim compares to their usual Cone Mills so fingers crossed that Drop may offer other Raleigh Denim options. Congrats to Sarah and Victor (and Drop) on this collab. I'm in Australia so I don't think I'd have even known about RDW let alone own a pair if it weren't for this drop. Hopefully this will be my first of many Raleigh jeans from North Carolina!
K-ManMay I ask, are the measurements provided in the last image accurate with the size you purchased? I like the collaboration design but with the no return policy, it's hard for me to commit.
Ordered size 33 and these are completely useless to me. There is no exchange policy whatsoever.
I can go back on the website and purchase a size 34, or 35. Therefore, even though this is a limited run, there are others available.
Deal or no deal, there is no way that I would purchase clothing from Drop in the future for a return policy that does not allow exchange for size. I am a 33 in every single jean, chino, suit pants, and shorts that I own. This is the very first time I have not fit into a 33.
mds622Do you still have these? That's exactly my size, and I'd definitely consider buying directly from you if you continue to have trouble with the return/exchange. Let me know if you're interested.
I’m done with mass drop.
Not only are these jeans two sizes too small. The description recommended getting one size smaller than your normal size. I didn’t do this, but my normal size didn’t fit.
there are no returns. And this is not the first time that this has happened. I am done with this site. Buy at huge risk.
These are nice and sturdy jeans that will take some time to break in. They are snug in the waist (expecting these to stretch out a bit) but have about a 35" inseam, so will probably need to take them to a tailor.
I'm seeing a lot of sizing issues in the reviews and just wanted to say that my recommendation is to take the size that you would normally wear in your J. Crew or Bonobos pants or whatever else you normally wear. So if you wear a 34 normally, then select the 34 option in these pants (which corresponds to a 36" waist size). Most other pairs of pants that you have are most likely vanity sized, so if you normally wear a 34, then your actual waist size is 36". Or you can actually measure your waist to make sure.
My first experience with a pair of jeans that cost over $40 or so and it's been eye opening. These feel like no other jeans I have ever experienced. They started off fairly stiff but between five and ten wears have started to soften and conform and are now the most comfortable jeans I have ever worn.
The first day I wore them I got three compliments from people I work with. I have never before been complimented on my jeans and rarely do I get compliments on any clothes at all, so that was eye opening. My wife loves them, she says they look great on me and I have to agree. They fit well (I ordered 32 waist and I would call them true to size) although they are longer than I expected. I rolled up the bottoms to a comfortable length so they sit just above my shoe tops and that seems to work.
At 13ounces and 100% cotton they also breathe better than other jeans I am used to. I can actually wear these on a warm/hot day and be comfortable which is again, not something I am used to with blue jeans. I will be keeping my eyes open for other jean drops from Raleigh Denim because I am really enjoying this pair.
