ferretallicatbf, this drop has switches (like ~$12) and LEDs (no idea how much) on the base price + no need for assembly ($7) so this is still a deal unless you really want the MIX profile caps
I didn't mean switching it for an Esc but rather putting the tilde key on a layer. But I understand that it would still be awkward if it's a fairly frequently used letter. In latin alphabet we have the advantage of always having at least all the alphas on the default layer. I see there are 28 letters in Arabic... Jut out of curiosity, what key is the other one?
You could make use of the "long press" function in QMK - short press tilde, long press escape. The "long" press could be still very short. I have to try that myself for some keys ;-)
OrangeShadowAll of the right hand side punctuation keys have letters in the Arabic IBM layout. There are more than 28 glyphs you can type due to vowels and punctuation. So [ ] ; ' , . / all have a letter (or letter+vowel or other glyph).
Staggering the top Alpha row with the Number row and adjusting Esc and Backspace to compensate and save what, 1/4" of space? Couldn't have made a normal 60% like everyone else, split the spacebar, and it'd have at least been something?
It's like only the top half is a Planck. Absolutely disgusting.
I think the idea of a huge esc key is pretty cool. A standard 60% would have esc in that position, anyways.
Why do you think the backspace would be hard to find? It's just a little bit shorter than standard, right?
666KBno. i agree. i like the idea of a big esc also, (i could be wrong) BUT i dont think anybody makes esc keys or backspace keys this size so when your next favorite keycap set comes out dont expect a kit that will fit this board
Another opportunity lost. Why have split spacebar and not the option of HHKB-style right-shift?
... actually on second glance, that top row is horrible too. I can't see this selling much.
