Product Description
In 1944, Swiss engineer Hans Hilfiker designed what would go on to become the Official Swiss Railway Clock, which featured an easy-to-read dial with large black stick markers and a bright red seconds hand. About 40 years after the clock’s debut, Mondaine received official license from the Swiss Federal Railways to use this design as a tribute to Swiss watchmaking tradition Read More

boozedExactly my thinking. This thing is tiny. I can't believe people are buying it. Nice as it may seem at first, considering its size, it's just not practical...and absurdly overpriced.
One expects to come across a certain number of questions and comments on these drops from folks who are obviously not "watch-people", but I had no idea there were an equal number of folks out there who are obviously not "clock-people" either!
I blame cellphones of course.
Case in point: while checking MDs price for this clock against Amazon's, I read a user review where the writer pointed out having a desk clock was handy, for those occasions when one is using an app on a cellphone that hides the phone's time display!
No doubt that's just what Mondaine had in mind when they created this little clock--helping Millennials limp through life's awkward time display dead-zones.
How thoughtful of them ;- )
This model did not score well on Amazon and from reviews recorded, you need to take it to a jeweler to change the battery. Bummer. I love Mondaine but it looks like they missed the mark on this one.
Ban21I'm wondering of these are a batch of customer returns. Mine arrived working OK, but only 1 of 3 magnets on the back is secured in place. A second magnet falls out loose, and the 3rd is missing entirely. A loose Jesus clip is sticking to the secured magnet. I can repair the loose magnet easily (hot glue should do it), but the missing one might be difficult to deal with. I have some miniature rare-earth magnets, but they are rounds and not bar-shaped like these are. I'll sleep on this and decide if I will return the clock tomorrow.
EDIT: I just looked at the pics of the back of the clock in the description again. Only 2 magnets are showing in that photo, the 3rd hole behind the 12 marker position is also empty like mine. I've now glued the loose magnet back in place and I'll keep it.
FarragoBranding, and it's a luxury item. Desk clocks are completely unnecessary these days, so the only reason t obuy one is for status, or ornamentation.
