I bought this webcam a few months ago and just now got around to setting it up in my new office. What a POS! There's no manual on the Monster website or any other info to help you try to get a decent image from this webcam and the image quality is terrible. The specs don't meet those that Drop published. I can't believe Drop sold this garbage. I've bought a number of items via Drop over the years but I'm done after this blatant rip off. I've unsubscribed to the Drop emails and removed the bookmark to their website. They can no longer be trusted.
I really don't have much to say about the quality of this webcam, because I didn't really get to use it. I purchased it, primarily, because the description stated:
Resolution: 3084 x 2160 (4K)
Camera detail: 12 MP
Frame rate: 60 fps
but Monster's Box description stated:
30 FPS @ 4K Ultra HD (up to 3840 x 2160p)
60/30 FPS @ 1080p Full HD (up to 1920 x 1080p)
I wanted a 60FPS @ 4K webcam. So I returned this one to Drop.
= s.west
The video quality and focus is worse than my 1080p webcam. The focus can't seem to get a clear image. The built in light bar is too close to the image sensor and washes out the image (assuming this is fixed by the stick on lens cap). The internal threads for the tripod are too big for the tripod threads so it just kinda slides on and wobbles.
I contacted Monster support and they were not helpful. They told me it was a the fault of both the app I was using (Zoom and built in cam/video app) and lighting in my room (super bright).
Everything about this is off. I don't believe this is true 4k, there are stuck pixels everywhere, and the built in light drowns out even more of the cameras 'quality'. The webcam will also make its microphones your default audio input devices. A 720p logitech webcam from 2017 has better picture quality and low light compensation. It at least gets 1 star for it being a webcam even though I probably just sent my pc data to this companies data server.
melatoninYes, as I stated in my 'Discussions' post, the Drop website states 60fps, while the box (once you have it in your hands) makes clear that the frame rate is resolution-dependent: 30fps @ 4k, and 60/30fps @ 1080p.
Since my purchase was based on the 60fps, I too want a refund.
