Monster Vision Insight Focus Premium 4K UHD Webcam = POS!
I bought this webcam a few months ago and just now got around to setting it up in my new office. What a POS! There's no manual on the Monster website or any other info to help you try to get a decent image from this webcam and the image quality is terrible. The specs don't meet those that Drop published. I can't believe Drop sold this garbage. I've bought a number of items via Drop over the years but I'm done after this blatant rip off. I've unsubscribed to the Drop emails and removed the bookmark to their website. They can no longer be trusted.

Not 60hz @ 4K
I really don't have much to say about the quality of this webcam, because I didn't really get to use it. I purchased it, primarily, because the description stated:
  • Resolution: 3084 x 2160 (4K)
  • Camera detail: 12 MP
  • Frame rate: 60 fps
but Monster's Box description stated:
  • 30 FPS @ 4K Ultra HD (up to 3840 x 2160p)
  • 60/30 FPS @ 1080p Full HD (up to 1920 x 1080p)
I wanted a 60FPS @ 4K webcam. So I returned this one to Drop. = s.west

Terrible in every way
  • Images is less clear than previous 1080p camera
  • Constantly attempting to auto focus, and never focusing at the correct distance
  • Lens cap is a weird stick-on that doesn't seem to fit the size of the camera
  • Built-in light shines back into the camera, with or without the stick-on lens cap
  • Feels cheap and flimsy

Just Awful
The video quality and focus is worse than my 1080p webcam. The focus can't seem to get a clear image. The built in light bar is too close to the image sensor and washes out the image (assuming this is fixed by the stick on lens cap). The internal threads for the tripod are too big for the tripod threads so it just kinda slides on and wobbles. I contacted Monster support and they were not helpful. They told me it was a the fault of both the app I was using (Zoom and built in cam/video app) and lighting in my room (super bright).

Not good at all
Everything about this is off. I don't believe this is true 4k, there are stuck pixels everywhere, and the built in light drowns out even more of the cameras 'quality'. The webcam will also make its microphones your default audio input devices. A 720p logitech webcam from 2017 has better picture quality and low light compensation. It at least gets 1 star for it being a webcam even though I probably just sent my pc data to this companies data server.

no i haven't yet but hopefully the refund works out since it was clearly a misleading product that didn't deliver on its promises

melatoninYes, as I stated in my 'Discussions' post, the Drop website states 60fps, while the box (once you have it in your hands) makes clear that the frame rate is resolution-dependent: 30fps @ 4k, and 60/30fps @ 1080p. Since my purchase was based on the 60fps, I too want a refund.
Recent Activity
I posted the following down in someone else's thread, but thought I should put it in here, as well: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I sent a support request for a refund, clearly spelling out that the basis for my request was that the item was not-as-advertised (60fps vs 30fps for 4K) and received a rejection on the first try: "After reviewing your order, we are unable to facilitate a return for the Monster Vision Insight Focus Premium 4K UHD Webcam as we only offer returns for items that arrive damaged, defective, not-as-advertised, or are missing components. Any issues must be reported within 30 days of delivery." I have responded with a more forceful demand, and included my explicit reasoning: In the SPEC table, that is included in your message to me, the resolution and frame rate are specified as: Resolution: 3084 x 2160 (4K)  (sic) Frame rate: 60 fps However, after receiving the camera I discovered, from the packaging, that the frame rate is actually: 30 FPS @ 4K Ultra HD (up to 3840 x 2160p) 60/30 FPS @ 1080p Full HD (up to 1920 x 1080p) This is, clearly, NOT AS ADVERTISED... I purchased the Monster Vision™ Insight Focus Premium 4K UHD Webcam from Drop because you said that the frame rate/resolution was 60 fps at 3084 x 2160 (4K) (sic), but the camera, according to Monster®, has a frame rate of 30fps at 3840 x 2160p. I hope that this gets a more focused response. That is, I hope that the representative is explicit in explaining why the differences above do not constitute 'not-as-advertised'. Have you (or anyone else) tried to get a refund? I'll post back on progress. = s.west
