What happened to the discussion history MD? I was gifted this pen. Toss the refill out and put a Cross Selectip in. If you are thinking about buying this for yourself, don’t.

So it's simply the refill and not the pen itself. You aren't claiming that that you feel the pen is not authentic.. But, still I find this curious, because MB is supposed to make a very good rollerball to match the quality of the pen. I'm not my any means a MB, or pen expert, however I do know that these higher end pens (just as w/watches) are expertly counterfietely at the highest level. I ordered one, but this is always a concern of mine. Authentic MB's should write as good as it feels in the hand. IMO. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Chipp1My pen is authentic. It was purchased at a MB retail store. My problem with the pen is not just the refill, but the entire pen. Even if the pen came with a refill that is very good, I still feel that it is not delivering anywhere near the price it commands. I used to share your expectations, that owning a MB pen should give you the best writing experience. My original comment was aimed for those who wondered whether this MB model is worth considering. Based on your comments you have already decided to purchase it, so it really isn’t valid in your case. You have my congratulations, and I wish that you will get a lot of enjoyment from using this pen. I wouldn’t be too worried about your purchase not being authentic, just that most likely you won’t get the warranty support from MB.

Curious to know how it feels to write with $500 pen? Buy a $6 refill and put it in $9 pen. There you go—how’s that feel? Trust me; you’d feel dumber if you just paid $270 for the same feeling ;- )

I like pens, pens of all sorts. Some very good ones and expensive, some not so. I enjoy writing mostly with my collection of fountain pens. And so I don't have a MB, just thought this might be a good time to get one. I hope this answers your question.

Chipp1Each to his own. I have an MB ballpoint (a gift)--had I purchased it myself, I'd have been pretty underwhelmed. That said, it writes as well as the refill you chose to fit it with. Should be the same case for the rollerball. Enjoy it!
