Post Drama Impressions - (After Repairing an Early Unit)
After the dust has settled, I'm happy to say I can finally write a review for this very unique board. For those unaware, the original run of the Dash75 shipped with a USB Device Hub of revision [3.9.1] This led to several issues where the board would fail to be recognized by a PC without constant unplug/replug before dying entirely after a week or so. A replacement USB hub would have been far more trivial, if the old one had not damaged the main board as well... Moondrop says, "Nah, we got you fam." and sends an entire replacement PCB as well as an updated USB Hub (Revision 4.1 if anyone is curious. Arrived June 10th), they also extended the warranty by a year, among other things. Disassembly/Reassembly was straight forward: remove caps, switches, and carefully lift a few layers of dampening foam before replacing the PCB and USB Hub themselves. Had a minor panic attack when the MoonRiver 2, which mind you remained unharmed throughout this endeavor, failed to be recognized at first. Turns out I didn't plug it in all the way, haha. Anyway, the difference in 4.X is immediately apparent. For one, there's no fiddling to get the PC to recognize it, now it picks up the keyboard instantly and I can finally focus on the positive aspects of the board. The aluminum finish is very nice, and the white linear switches were surprisingly pleasant (though the tactile gray switches they give you as a sample were rather enticing, perhaps I should get a set of those)? No rattling in sight, and the MoonRiver 2 is a solid DAC/AMP, absolutely no complaints there. Conclusion Given future orders (if/when it's restocked) will likely include Hub Revision 4.X by default, I can easily recommend this keyboard to someone seeking a high-end aluminum board and a minimalist setup (MoonRiver2 built-in, so no wire mess).

AnotherPasserbyThanks for sharing this issue, I thought I was the only poor sod who had wonky behavior with the keyboard. Had no clue they had a fixed PCB, only found out because I finally found the time to google the issue. Great to see that you've had the issue fixed, but I can guess a lot of owners bought the keyboard and still have no idea why things are so wonky.

A cool Hi-Fi keyboard
The design is nice and the packaging is well done. I connected it to my computer with the included cable and typed on it, and even in its default state, I found great typing feel and feedback. Of course, the stabilizers on the space keys need a little lubrication. In fact, the main reason I bought this keyboard was because it has a built-in DAC and amplifier, and when I plugged in Sennheiser's HD600 and played some of my usual music, the sound was nicely cleaned up and had plenty of drive. I'm very happy with it. However, as others have pointed out, mine didn't recognize the tilt (~) key, so I took the switch out and found the pin was bent; fortunately, there was a spare switch in the packaging, so I swapped it out right away. Overall, I think the product is very polished, but it's unfortunate that there are so many minor switch issues. I wish they would pay more attention to QA. I thought the keycaps were PBT, but they were smooth, so it felt awkward, but the texture itself is good, and it's thick. However, I don't like the pixelated printing. I think it would have been much better if it was printed in bold, clear letters. Also, since this is a keyboard with a built-in DAC and amplifier, a knob in place of the PS key would have been perfect. There are a few things I'd like to see changed, but overall I'm happy with it.

Moondrop's Support fixed the issues, great keyboard! (UPDATED)
Keyboard started to switch keys, before I could figure out how to reflash the firmware here it stopped working. Seems like the USB Hub may have died since plugging the DAC in directly works, but trying to plug it in via the HUB, which is the only way I can connect the keyboard part since it's connected to the hub via a ribbon cable, results in my computer not recognizing it's plugged in at all, either in Device Manager or QMK Toolbox. Contacted Drop's support and got a generic troubleshooting email and no reply since (roughly 2 days from writing this). Moondrop has been contacting me, though slowly probably because of timezone differences, but no solution yet. It's a shame because the keys feel and sound nice, and having a keyboard with a built in USB hub is perfect for my setup, but as it stands it's just a big paperweight. I'd honestly recommend it to a friend if I knew the support when things go wrong would be there...but I guess I'll see how that develops. EDIT: Updating because Moondrop's Support got back to me saying they will send a replacement USB Hub once it's ready, so hopefully I'll have a functional keyboard when it comes in. UPDATE: Moondrop sent the replacement part for the USB Hub and it's been working fine ever since! Really been enjoying using the keyboard, has a nice sound and feel to it, now that it's all working I'm very pleased with the keyboard.

First mech keyboard, great experience
I'm new to this whole mech keyboard thing so I only found out about this through Crinacle. I'm in the UK and mainly working from a Mac - so the odd layout doesn't bother me too much. I did struggle with VIA somewhat but eventually managed to get it to work and my experience from then on has been terrific. What I would say is I agree there should be some media controls on the board (or even a volume knob) and if you're in the UK you should be aware there'll be at least £50 of import tax. Great experience - would reommend to a friend!

Good, not perfect
Needed some work done Spacebar was not lubbed properly, adding some dielectric greese fixed this. The feet are very loose so setting it down was a little annoying as they would flip out, adding a layer of tape to widen them and provide friction fixed this. Keyboard would not be detected after PC wakes up from sleep until unplugged/replugged. Downloading the latest drivers and firmware from https://moondroplab.com/en/download fixed this. (holding the ESC key before plugging it in to enter bootloader mode) Some nitpicks, wish there was an option to choose tactile switches when buying. No way to switch between low and high gain on the moonriver 2. I believe it was default on high gain but after updating drivers/firmware it is on low gain, which is still enough power for me. (iems and sundara headphone tested) Also no volume knob on a audio related keyboard seems odd, but rebinding media keys with https://moondropvia.com works just as well Unresolved issue is the moonriver 2 dac will randomly stop working for a minute, I can get audio back quicker by going to windows sound>playback settings and disabling/enabling the moonriver 2 device. This usually happens when starting a new audio source (youtube video) so never in the middle of something already playing. I have contacted moondrop support and waiting for a solution. If you don't like tinkering, I would not recommend, but after putting in some work, it is a very nice keyboard and I enjoy the aesthetics of both the board and also not needing a separate dac/amp on my desk.

Company does not support customers
Good keyboard. Really nice chassis, really nice key switches, overall good idea. However it is marred by terrible software engineering and support.
  • Does not follow GPL of the tools they used to build the firmware and software, so you need to use their custom QMK and VIA tools. This is also unethical.
  • Board's firmware is broken resulting in strange behaviors when PCs enter and exit different power states. Have to wear down USB port by plugging in and out constantly.
  • moondropvia.com is broken so you cannot configure this keyboard as advertised.
  • Support talks around issues.
  • Support fails to tell customers here of things they can do to fix their issues. Did not tell me to substitute the broken caps or anything.
I have been patient with moondrop on this as they are new, but their support responses have been unhelpful enough to force me to write a negative review. DO NOT BUY UNTIL MOONDROP FIGURES OUT THE FIRMWARE. update: my cable broke at the connector.

Almost amazing - rendered useless
UPDATE November 2023: I was busy for months and never got around to fixing the keyboard or updating this review. Eventually they sent me a replacement PCB. I changed the PCB, and it still doesn't work. Same exact issue as in July. At this point I'm down $300 and multiple hours of tinkering with this keyboard. I sent an email requesting a full replacement. Again, this would be one of the best keyboards ever if it would just work. UPDATE July 2023: Moondrop did get back to me and promptly sent me two replacement USB hubs, and it was fairly easy to replace. Then, a few months of very light use later (VERY light use - I got laid off), the whole thing just stopped working. I tried the second replacement USB hub and nothing changed. Power is being delivered to the DAC but no computer on the planet recognizes the keyboard now. Might be a PCB issue. Until they publicly address this and confirm it’s been fixed in a new batch of production, I absolutely cannot recommend this product. Which stinks because when it works, it’s a truly phenomenal product. Old update: Support responded and they're saying it's the fault of the USB hub inside the board. They promise to send the replacement part, but no timeline yet. This thing is a buggy piece of junk and that's very sad. What probably would have been one of the best (though still pricey) deals in the mech keyboard and audiophile market turned out to be a truly enormous pain in the butt. The good: The keyboard sounds and feels fantastic. This would be my second-favorite board if it was just the hardware. The DAC is shockingly good and now I feel like a sucker for buying an Aiyima T8 because this DAC is much better-sounding to my ears. The bad: It's broken. Just janked in a way I've never seen on a keyboard. Every time the PC wakes from sleep or reboots, the keyboard won't respond until I unplug and re-plug the USB cable (meaning the port will wear down and break in no time). But if that wasn't bad enough: The keyboard reprograms my "0" key to some random macro of keys and the "-" key to just be blank. I then have to go to moondropvia.com every single time I dare walk away from my PC and return. The worst: Drop won't help with this because they're facilitating a group-buy here, and Moondrop's customer service doesn't even send a confirmation email after you fill out their support form, so there's no way to know if this can be fixed or if I'm stuck with something that can be either the world's most annoying keyboard or an oversized paperweight.

The replacement part they sent didnt fix the issue. So they sent a new pcb but i have stripped one of the screws trying to get it off now a 2nd time. The tolerance in the pc threading is extremely tight and the bolt is just stuck. They have sent me info to send the entire board back so they can just send a new one with the new pcb but ive been to lazy to ship it back.

No, that was my mistake. The first time around they actually responded so quickly that I missed it at first. I’ll correct the record more in my review if/when they replace or fix the latest issue with my board (total unresponsiveness)

DAC/AMP are good, the keyboard is whatever
The DAC/AMP combo is definitely a step up from my previous set up and I have 0 qualms with it. My main issue, however, comes with the keyboard part. The individual keys for the most part sound and feel fine, but the stabilizer keys (space bar, shift, enter) all sound and feel significantly worse than I would have assumed from the review units that Moondrop sent out to influencers. It's a fine keyboard, but you'll need to do a bit of modding to make it sound as good as it did in the videos you've seen

I just received my Dash75, not a good experience so far. I’m highly disappointed and it’s not because of quality or appearance because it looked and felt great. But it was DOA, the DAC/Amp worked and was detected. But the keyboard itself did not function, I tried multiple cables, flipping the cables, resetting my computer, asking around Reddit to see if anyone else was having the same issue

and I tried to use Moondrop’s VIA page but the keyboard wasn’t detected at all. I flipped the keyboard and saw that there were two slightly stripped screws. I didn’t even want to bother opening it for fear of the keyboard being ineligible for exchange. If it worked properly I’d give it 5 stars but I’m just working with what I have. I’ve reached out to Drop to try to have my unit exchange and I am currently waiting to hear back. Hopefully it works out. Update: They said they didn’t have any to replace it with so unfortunately I’m just returning it :( kinda sad.

@ocelcole There was someone on the discord who had the same problem and they managed to get it working by flashing the pcb. You have to unscrew and remove the bottom polycarb housing and press a button through the tape. If you have trouble finding it you can peel the tape back a little. The button is somewhere behind the spacebar(middle bottom).

dasyummyI wanted to try that but when I went to try to remove the screws I saw that they were slightly stripped, I went to get a bigger bit to try to get the screws out but they were also over torqued so at that point it just wasn’t worth the trouble for me.
