I know its out of place question, but can this one be used for lite gaming as well?

Rereading my comment, I sounded so aggressive, haha. I think both of your responses were really good, to be fair, and I have to agree that mice and monitors can affect performance as well (though noticeably, really only on the low ends). I totally see where you are coming from, especially initially, as it's become a common misconception in recent years that the quality of your peripherals past the bare minimum will make you a better gamer. Which, while true in some very niche cases, doesn't really apply to 99.9% of people, and in FPS games, won't do more than make your aim better by 1-2% at best. Piggybacking off your point for someone who might care about the keyboard for gaming, some keyboards like those offered by wooting have the capabilities for analog input and a feature called rapid trigger (basically no need to go all the way down and up to trigger an input), which can indeed provide a competitive advantage. Honestly, if a question is asked in an online forum, an answer that suits more than one person is especially welcome, and good on you for making two thoughtful and potentially helpful responses. Anyway, I think I have rambled enough for now, to you and anyone else reading this, Have a Nice Day! :)

Shruikanhey guys, thank you so much for all the input :) I guess my only task now is to try and get some of my USA/UK friends to get this to me as Serbia's customs would rip me off xD
might just be me, but it seems ironic to have an audiophile keyboard, without a single volume knob :)

mdotit's definitely not just you... it's a glaring omission.
mdotShouldn't have been hard to implement as the Moon River 2 (the built in dac/amp) already had a volume rocker that controlled source volume

Moondrop shipped me the finalized accessories and PCBs, and I've updated my review to discuss these further: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/moondrop-dash-hifi-mechanical-keyboard. It's gone from a good keyboard to a great one now in my opinion, and certainly worth the asking price.

VSG28Thanks for the Review! In Alexotos' YT review he tried a GMK set and found the spacebar is offset a little. Did you find the similar issue in your sample?

MichaelZhangI have not tried any other keycap sets yet but the PCB looks fine to me when it comes to keycap spacing and sizing.

Hi - I can upload the JSON, but the configure tab doesn't activate. Can show the matrix, see the definition and the keyboard layout in Design, but cannot modify. Am using the newer 1.15 JSON that is available in the VIAL download (are VIA and VIAL JSONs the same? should be right?)

Put my order in the other day. From reading comments and watching videos on it, feeling like I am the only one who really loves the badge hahaha. Might even try and get the dimensions for it and get my own copper plate CNC'd with my name on or something.

I think it's based on a Commodore 64. Same horizontal grooves along the top with a large badge. There have been many retro inspired custom keyboards, modeled after computing and gaming devices.. Gameboy, Atari, etc. even the Commodore 64.
search
But I feel they go over the top and make it look too retro ie too accurate. The DASH is a much improved, cleaner, sleek refresh. And the material choices and design also serve dual purposes. Where the Commodore 64 had grooves purely for aesthetics(as they were made from plastic), the DASH's aluminium body refashions top and border grooves into what is essentially a heatsink/fin stack, dissipating heat from the internal Moonriver2 as VSG pointed out in his review. There are other design cues at play here from an audiophile perspective. For example the glaring omission of RGB LEDs. If you ever watch keyboard videos you may notice the RGB lighting flicker rapidly, this is because the camera is able to pick up the pulse width modulation based LED drivers which control brightness levels. High frequency PWM signals are notorious for creating electromagnetic interference (EMI and RFI), which negatively impact sound quality from audio devices within the same chain i.e the Moonriver2. Is it noticeable or a case of audiophilia nervosa? Hard to say, but it makes sense that something like this would come from Moondrop who proudly boasts their Moonriver 2 signal to noise ratio(123dB-131dB which is extreme).. What other interactions are at play? This is after all the first time a DAC/amp has been integrated into a keyboard. What if I'm giving them too much credit and they merely just forgot about lighting? If we took a good hard look at it, I'm sure we could unearth why other design choices were made, omitted, or sacrificed. But I still wish they could have some how incorporated volume control knob.

dasyummyVolume control knob would have been nice I admit, but as someone who likes building custom keyboards, it gives me more excuse to build a fun volume deck to go with it hahahe. I got my shipment notification yesterday so I will probably post another comment here after I have used it for a while as a little review.

Here are some issues I had and how I fixed them to help anyone with similar issues:
  1. Two keys have been swapped. Pressing CTRL did CAPSLOCK and pressing CAPSLOCK did CTRL:
  2. I started by downloading the firmware here: https://moondroplab.com/en/download
  3. Then followed the steps here: https://x-bows.com/blogs/blog/keyboard-qmk-firmware
  4. Note that for the MCU, you need to use "ATmega32U4"
  5. You can test that all your keys are working here https://moondropvia.com/#/
  6. Note that after this fix my keyboard name switch from "Moondrop" to "Moondrop Dash75" when viewed in device manager with view devices by container.
  7. Plugging the keyboard would sometime spams specific keys. I swapped the switches of those keys and did the fix for #1 and It seemed to stop.
  8. The DAC is not working. Had a bug where the DAC wouldn't let audio passthrough.
  9. I popped open the back panel and found that the DAC was receiving power fine since it was lighting up red. Red means "Low Gain mode". The problem was with usb-c cable, it wasn't passing the audio output. Switching the usb-c cable did the trick for me.
Hope this helps anyone :)

JaysanfIs this something new owners have to worry about? Not exactly looking forward in dealing with these problems especially I havent even received their keyboards yet.

Jaysanf@Jaysanf thanks for the hot tip! My problem is with the DAC - the LED is always red and there's intermediate breakup of the audio. When you say switching the usb-c cable, do you mean the cable between computer/keyboard, or inside the keyboard between the hub and the DAC? If the latter, do you have a recommendation for a short one that fits in? Thanks again!

GoomsAt least it looks like an audiophile keyboard. This looks like the audio part was an afterthought. That said, the moondrop looks better overall.

Blur410Because it sort of was, the DAC/AMP inside of it is already an extremely well-reviewed DAC/AMP, and moondrop just decided to shove it in a keyboard, as an idea its a pretty darn good one and the whole package is pretty good value considering that the DAC/AMP on its own is $190 normally. Moondrop is basically sweetening the deal on this keyboard by bundling it with another one of their products
I don’t need this at all but I want it so bad
