For the currentlt running drop is this for the original or v2 version of the monitor? Timeframe for shipping suggests it could be v2 but its not clear.
I just received my unit yesterday, from the previous drop, and I'm quite happy with it. No backlight edge bleed I can detect, uniform illumination, and only a single flawed pixel I could find (with broken, as in always dark, green and blue subpixels) about an inch from the left side toward the middle. And I was only able to locate it after poring carefully over the whole display from about 5" away.
The 144Hz refresh is amazing. Coming from my old 24" 60Hz Dell U2410 it's much more noticeable in regular use than I'd anticipated. I'd expected to perceive it clearly in FPS gaming, but I hadn't considered how it would make normal desktop computing so much more fluid as well! Just moving the mouse cursor and dragging interface windows around is so much smoother and less visually fatiguing. Overall I'm quite pleased!
If I had any gripes, they'd only be that I'll miss the convenience of the integrated USB ports on my old monitor, and that the EDG-27 stand adjustments are a bit inconsistent. Landscape/portrait spin of the screen has very little resistance, while the twist on the base to rotate the facing direction and the hinge to tilt the screen forward and back are both quite stiff (to the point that I feel slightly concerned about the structural strain and so take more care than I'd normally expect should be needed when making those adjustments.) But both very minor issues, really, contrasted with all the improvements!
General_WinterThe previous drop closed on Feb 7th with shipping estimated at the time for Feb 27th. They actually shipped out on March 1st, and I received mine on the 6th.
$370 for 4ms and no HDR? What makes it worth the price then? Sure, IPS and all that, but 1ms TN panels with HDR and also Freesync/G Sync can be had for $310. What does this offer over those?
Renegade5399Well, for some "IPS and all that" may be worth it. Personally, I really dislike using TN panels. I do a good amount of gaming, but also a lot of other things on my computer. Having the color reproduction and viewing angles of IPS is worth a good amount to me, and I also really wanted higher refresh rates and the best possible Freesync range. So, with IPS and good calibration/adjustment controls, combined with the huge 30-144Hz freesync range, it was appealing to me at that price. Based on AMDs list of Freesync monitors, it's one of the only non-TN units with that range (one other VA unit is another Nixeus model, and the Pixio PX277 is apparently IPS as well when I looked it up .) My two cents, anyway. :-)
PerfesI am going to speculate the it is V2 from the listed specs below.
Input ports: DisplayPort 1.2a (up to 144Hz), HDMI 2.0 (up to 144Hz), Dual-Link DVI, HDMI 1.4
Has anybody found a review for this unit where they've measured input lag, actual response time, contrast ratio, etc?
I couldn't find much on the Internet, but maybe my Google-foo isn't as good as some others' here.
dqnielAt the most optimal settings there is virtually no input lag
It has both manual and automation contrast adjustments, the latter of which does have a very big delay so I only use it while watching stuff (and read the manual, it tells you this stuff)
All I know is compared to other 144hz monitor this thing had non existent latency which is part of why it cost more than most 144hz monitors
General_WinterThanks for the response, but "virtually no input lag" is quite vague. Some 144hz monitors have as low as 5 ms. Some are over 20 ms.
I'm looking for numbers regarding *measured* input lag, contrast ratio, sRGB gamut coverage, and response time.
Also, this doesn't cost more than most 144hz IPS monitors. It costs less. Most 144 Hz, 1440p IPS monitors are ~$650.
I with you, spurdy and chuang33. I too got this Massdrop and it is my 1st as well. Now this is my theory as to why the delay. I had looked at where this monitor was sold (Newegg and Amazon) and a few weeks ago, you could "purchase" this monitor, but the delivery date was listed as Feb 27th. Nixeus is releasing a new version of this monitor that will support Freesync over HDMI 2.0 port (useful for XBox connection) and a new bezel. My feeling is that Nixeus is waiting for a delivery of these from their ODM (just a guess) and the boat they came in on has not arrived or been unloaded yet. I guess we will need to be patient. UG!
I participated in the most recent drop and I'm quite excited to get this! I know the Feb 27th shipping date was only an estimate, but is it typical for shipping on drops to go much past the estimates? My RX Vega 56 can produce all these frames I still can't get into my eyeballs with my current 60Hz display! XD
if it had a glass screen i'd buy, glass makes colors pop so well, at the expense of reflections but eh, i prefer the color pop. sadly no one ever makes glass panels anymore
CheffyDell 1080p 60hz models still use glass, and they look great imo. I don't mind the glare because I play in a dark room. I just wish I could find more glass screen models. the colors look so much better on glass.
