What is the basic difference between the cool white or a warm white LED's?

ccpedalerColor temperature is a spectrum with cooler whites appearing relatively bluer and warmer whites appearing relatively more yellowish. The actual temperatures associated with terms like "cool" and "warm," unfortunately, vary from manufacturer to manufacturer so you really have to have an idea of the actual color temperature to know what you will really get. Daylight is usually given as appx. 5000k - 6500k. Neutral (appears whiter with less of a color cast) is approximately 3500k - 4000k. Anything lower is considered warm. The general idea of cool or warm works well for general lighting purposes. Flashlights make things a little more difficult, as the color temperature can affect how well you see detail and how far the light is effective, depending on the situation. Bulbs (LED or not) can also respond to power changes by shifting temperature. When it comes to flashlights, reviews actually showing the light beams are your best friend.

For the size I like the Jetbeam Mini-1. It's low setting matches this and the high is 130 lumens. Rechargeable and can get it in colors or solid copper or stainless steel. This only seems like a good choice if you want to put a tritium vial in it.

Before buying this, please consider the Nightcore Tube, 9.6 grams functional, 45 lumens, flexible functions, RECHARGEABLE, IP65 dust and water resistant, impact resistant, 1 hour runtime on High, 5 colors to choose from. It's never (AFAIK) come on in my pocket and drained the battery. MicroUSB charging, which I have literally everywhere. I'm done with overpriced batteries, particularly ones that fit only 1 or 2 items. I'm skeptical about that 7.4g includes batteries, but even so, ~2g is a small price to pay to keep $25 in your pocket, before investing in replacement batteries.
TEC, consider designing something with similar durability, or even just build a trick housing for the Nitecore guts, which you could likely source for a few $'s. Did I mention it's rechargeable?

I give them as gifts....maybe I need to follow through, but the only 1 that has failed me took over 2 years to do so. That averages to under $0.50 / month, and I'm pretty happy with that. To clarify, I'm more loyal to the rechargeable feature than to this product specifically. I simply think it's a more economical investment than the advertised item. Also, I still think TEC should consider making a similar product or a slick Ti shell for the Tube.

SpecialEdI'd love the rechargeable aspect also, except for in EDC use, I've been glad that I've had my bullet light as a backup, as a good 75% of the time that I've wanted to use it (especially after I've not had to use it for a while) it's been discharged. I like my EDC to be dependable, which is the reason that I think that you see that a lot of the flashlights still use plain batteries.

I've seen issues with people accidentally put the light on all day while it's in their pocket, is this anyone else's experience? Thanks.

This is a USA based company that produces well made, reliable products. The price reflects that. Massdrop is an avenue that allows makers like TEC to drop a production run at a large market. Benk has a solid point - getting responses from TEC shows their commitment to customer satisfaction.

I got one of these on their KS project, one of the anodized ones. It is a very cool little keychain light. The best twisty version that I have found so far. It has yet to turn itself on accidentally which has always been a flaw in these types for me in the past.
