Eagerly waiting on another drop. Got a TKL sized one but need one for my full-sized. If anyone has a full-size and is looking to sell please give me a shout!
NaspI think the major concern with a product like this is bubbles in the resin. If that's something that is going to annoy you, then just skip this drop. I haven't seen any posts, regarding wood products, that doesn't have mentions of warping; its just the nature of the beast. I've had a similar rest for a few months now, and from some of the other reviews I find that I'm on an extreme end of the spectrum when it comes to bubbles in the resin. Where the wood and resin meet there is just a ton of bubbles, out of an 11 inch rest there was 8 inches that had columns of bubbles. When the rest is being sanded back it'll leave tiny pockets on the finish, they aren't super noticeable for feel and you need to be sort of close, with decent lighting, to see them. There is also a chance that very tiny pieces of sawdust may get into the resin.
If the price point was lower, then I'd personally try my luck again, but an almost $60 dollar wrist rest would need to be guaranteed to have an immaculate product for me to consider spending the money. That's just my personal opinion from the lessons I learned with the NPKC wood & resin wrist rest.
What's the best way to clean this? I used a damp cloth earlier, and the lighter portion of the wood is actually very porous.. It is no longer smooth :(
etatauriUnfortunately, it's not sealed. The only good way to clean unsealed wood (that I know of) is to sand it, re-stain it and seal it so you don't have to do that again. Tried sealing mine with wood wax, but it's still picking up moisture from my wrists.
Not happy at all with mine - many bubbles and 4 spots were the bubble broke through the resin and they tried to cover it up by filling it and re-sanding it. Massdrop support is awesome, however.
Glad to see some other people got some good ones!
Beautiful! Wish I had ordered a second to replace the boring all wood one I have on my tkl at home. It's sliding all over the place, but it sounds like it may have come with rubber feet. I'll check the box when I get home.
Definitely in for a tkl if this drop comes up again.
I don't have the originals anymore. They are 4 black and 4 clear really small rubber nubs attached to small square sheets. I didn't even notice them the first time I went through the box.
itzdarkoutthereCrap. Not sure I saw them or got them. :( Mine hasn't slipped around though so I suppose it's no biggie... now I just need to hunt down a full-sized one and I'll be content!
