This would be pretty great if you were still able to charge via Lightning without having to remove the AirPods case from the charging case when Qi isn’t available.

From amazon reviews it sounds like there are three downsides in addition to the one mentioned in that 9to5 review about the top of the case not wanting to stay on. First, the light on the outside of the case doesnt indicate when charging is complete, it just says on. Second, the pods continue to charge, there is no stop mechanism. And third, while charging it gets very hot apparently, probably exacerbated by the fact that there is no auto-shutoff mechanism.

Thanks for quick reply @EastBrooklynLabs . Does the case have an intelligent Qi chip in it to protect against over-charging? Thats really my main concern. Dont want to damage the airpods.
