J_December_whyI've been using the RB42s with an SMSL AD18 for about 4 weeks. I have zero complaints. At volume level 25 (out of 60) the speakers are nearly deafening.
zax9Just an FYI... 'Maximum potential volume' is not a mark of a good amplifier. Any modern 50-Watt Class-D amplifier is going to 'get loud' with practically every loudspeaker on Earth. Though, only quality amplifiers that will really get your speakers to shine: tighter bass, higher amplitude peaks, increased transparency, less distortion (especially at higher volumes), higher SNR, etc.
The SMSL AD18 has features that make it convenient for most users, but the fact is, it will not provide maximum performance levels for any speakers or headphones.
Josh23What's your budget? Is the size/weight of the amplifier a concern? What inputs do you need (analog, optical, USB, Bluetooth, etc.)? Do you need a sub-woofer output?
