Just received mine. Very pretty knife. I do have a question for the community. Should I be able to "flick" open this knife? I can use the hole to one hand open this knife and the Spyderco Squeak (which I also bought from Mass Drop), but I can't flick them open. Is there a trick to doing that? Is there an adjustment you need to do to the knife?
This thing kills me, I have every other Chaparral model besides the stepped titanium ones. The internal debate will continue while I decide to pull the trigger or not.
I just bought one. I've always wanted one of the blue ones but couldn't justify paying for this when I could get 3 or 4 FRN's or CF's for the same price. I finally have in today because this is close to the cheapest I've seen it around Black Friday and now that they are no longer made I doubt they will still be around, especially the blue one, this Black Friday or year end Spyderco clearance sale. I love the Chaparrals and my superficial needs made me buy the hottest, most beautiful version of one of my all-time favorite Spydercos.
No, I'm not a doctor, hahaha. I got the name Blazer when I was 11. My friends neighbor thought my name was Blazer and my friends and family (yes, even my parents) have been calling me Blazer ever since. The doctor part cane around because I was getting a PhD in Marine Biology but I dropped out after the first year (PhD's in Marine Biology take a longtime. Generally it takes significantly longer to get a PhD in Marine Biology than any other subject/area due to lack of funds, grants, etc, etc and the large number of people trying to get one. Their aren't many jobs, certainly no high paying jobs, in the Marine Biology field, but there are a lot of people/students with BA's & MS's. So the supply is far above the demand.). So my friends have been calling me Doctor Blazer for the last 10+ years to constantly remind me that I am a failure, hahaha. All of my friends have many different nicknames. So, if you ever need to use my phone to find one of my friends' phone numbers, good luck haha.
DrBlazerSo, you’re a real Marine Biologist or a Marine Biologist like George Costanza was a Marine Biologist? : )

It seems this would be one of those rare occasions where a drop is actually a really good deal... this is lowest price I've seen on this one and it looks like many dealers are out of stock. The Chaparral is a great knife.. I have the "Stealth" Ti and the LW and really love them both.. This "stepped ti" model is a little too "fancy" for my tastes, but seriously, if you have any interest in this knife at all, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up here before it's gone for good..
For anyone living in a place MD charges sales tax (at least more than $5), have a little visit for the "plain" Ti version of this over on Blade HQ... Assuming you live in a place where HQ doesn't charge tax.
This is a good price imo. On spyderco's website the price is approx. $325 and with my 50% discount it drops to $162.50. This is a discontinued model so get em while you can.
