Product Description
Known among the Mechanical Keyboard community for its combination of the very desirable Topre 45g switches and the ubiquitous Cherry MX stem, the Novatouch allows you to finally enjoy the Topre feel with custom keycaps. For this limited drop, Massdrop has collaborated with Cooler Master, Matt3o, and Vortex to bring a fusion of design and style to the community Read More
What a complete waste. If they bothered to take photographs of the keycaps and mention in the title that the keyboard comes with a set of PBT keycaps we'd be seeing many more buyers.
stillgrayI completely disregarded it when I first saw it because of the reasons mentioned above. Now I just realized what I missed and I'm a bit upset.
I'm thinking this might sell better if they advertised the no keycap pricing. When you look at the listing, it looks like a barebones NovaTouch for $200. Nobody is going to want to get that. You can't even tell that it comes with keycaps while skimming the page. It looks like the SuperNova keys are going to be an add-on. Most people won't read the full description, and most people aren't going to click the commit to join to see the no keycap pricing.
StreakInTheSkyI agree. I overlooked this on the front page for days because it looked about the same price as a normal NovaTouch, and I didn't realize the bundling options. Calling it something like "NovaTouch Barebones or With Supernova Keycaps" would've helped me.
$210 45g Topre with no keycaps? No thank you. I'd rather get a 55g RealForce for the same price or go for an HHKB. This drop just doesn't give me any incentive to buy this over a competitor's arguably better keyboard.
The keyboard alone is currently $149.99 after rebate on Newegg.
I kind of get the impression that CoolerMaster doesn't fully comprehend the spirit of MassDrop.
Whoops, I didn't realize I was replying to a reply; I misunderstood and thought Supergeek had found an epic low price. Newegg and Amazon are selling the Novatouch for $165 in the US, and I haven't seen anything lower. So the MD price is $25 cheaper with shipping. If I didn't already have one, I'd order one here just for the satisfaction of finding a lower price. Anyway, MD said that the board will ship when available and not wait for the caps to arrive - so maybe only one month? :)
Hey everyone, got a couple quick announcements.
We're working with CoolerMaster to offer something unique with this drop, and based on the overwhelming feedback here we've got some good news for the community.
So first off, you can now remove the keycaps at checkout and order a barebones Novatouch. These are still the 45g version of the Topre switch since CM does not manufacturer anything with the other 55g variety.
Second, since we're separating the keycaps and keyboard, they will now ship whenever they become available. This means regardless of what you order, your barebones Novatouch will show up earlier than the estimated ship date and we'll send them out much closer to mid August.
Thanks everyone for your input and happy typing :)
Cheers
