The heart of the 104UG lies in Topre’s patented electrostatic capacitive switches, which combine the best features of high quality mechanical models and the predominant rubber domes. The switch features a slider housed by a rubber dome over a conical, coiled spring and a printed circuit board, giving you the silent operation of rubber dome keys and the reliability of their mechanical counterparts. With only limited resistance coming from a soft tactile bump and individually weighted keys to keep a consistent feel, typing has never been easier, or more satisfying.

While Topre could have left innovation to the switches, they transformed the rest of the board into a typist’s wildest dreams. The easy to read black-on-grey legends keep navigation simple and won’t wear off with age, thanks to dye-sublimation printing. The keycaps are sculpted in a unique high profile with deep spherical surfaces. The deep-dish surfaces eliminate finger slips while the profile's vertical staggering dramatically reduces travel between rows.
