For all you commenting on the price, it’s obviously you didn’t attempt to purchase it. Go ahead and just attempt to buy it then complain about the price.

Yeah, it's definitely not that now ($63 and change) From the comments, and my foggy memory, I don't think it was near that cheap in previous drops either, or I'd own it by now lol Wonder if maybe you had a credit on your account? That or I think you got super lucky with some crazy site glitch

I just looked and it was charging $63.50 now. So maybe it was a first time purchase deal. Sometimes they give an intro deal price like on the Gent it was $79 then after the first drop it went up to $99. Don’t know?? It was a great deal.

Hmm: $62.49 from MD, you get the knife in a month vs $63.89 from Amazon, you get the knife in five days A small scandi in 1095 would be super fun for whittling and this looks like it would also make a neat, robust bird and trout knife. Big kudos to Massdrop for featuring some great knives from great makers. But a bummer that you can get the same knife without the wait for $1.40 more elsewhere.

I just got this knife last week on Amazon for $1 more. It's now about $6 more on Amazon right now. It's an amazing knife. I got the survival knife. The options here are kinda messed up, it's really confused in the check out, and I think they mixed up the different versions. The survival has a tan blade and black handle, but it shows differently when you pick it as one of the options. For $6 more, I would rather have it in three days. Great knife. Great option for backpacking, it weighs only 2.9 ounces with the kydex sheath on.

Has anyone used this to baton wood? I find that to be a primary use for survival knives but not sure how difficult it would be at this size. Also this is only about $6 more on amazon or blade HQ. Not really worth the wait for shipping.

You can baton with it, but obviously not very thick wood. The larger Tops Scandi Trekker is 2 ounces heavier and much easier to baton. It costs about $95. Both are great knives. I went with the Mini Scandi MSK Survival, super light (2.9 ounces w/ kydex sheath) and more than enough for my needs while backpacking in Hawaii.

well I received my knife........its a shit show. I literally feel wronged. Maybe i shouldn't write this while mad but o well. first off i got the one pictured above, Rockies edition. see the beautiful handle scales? well mine are not like that....they are slathered in gook and you cant see any patterning cuz of this wax garbage all over my handle. Now the handle screws are all mucked up and some look stripped can they not use the right sized allen key when putting them together? and lastly my edge looks nothing like the one pictured it has swirls along the whole edge comin up over a quarter inch from the relief. looks like someone spun a wire wheel up and down the edge of the blade. Im really let down by this knife. either tops sent you factory seconds or there quality has went to absolute ****. Im disgusted to see made in America bill-boarded on the side of this disaster. 70 plus for this? no never!

He shouldn't have even made an attempt to clean it up. Just take pictures, share them with the community, then contact massdrop for a refund. The end.
If you don't contact them direct, you can't expect them to monitor all discussion pages for complaints and hope they reach out to you

Mine sent out today. Unfortunately it's with ASENDIA which I've had very bad experiences with (my Bestech Scimitar took well over a month to arrive if I recall!). My other knife arrived through USPS and it arrived in Canada only about a week after it shipped out. I wonder how long this will take this time.

Bought this the last go around here. I carry a ZT 0566 or a Kershaw Shallot on a daily basis but I found myself wanting to carry this knife all the time. It came sharp and has stayed that way (1095 ftw) and the sheath is jump ready. With a tek-lok it is great OWB carry, since I find it a little big for a neck knife. I REALLY want to buy an Izula II for comparison.

Does anyone already have a black/green & black to show off? Looks like more like a black/black than the listed black/black does. I'm putting this on the "remind me" list

A quick Google, and I found the Mini Scandi on a few web sites for the same cost (or even a couple $ less), when you consider free shipping and no tax (plus no waiting).
Not jumping in for this one...

I own the TOPS Hawk Recon and the Taliban Take Down... both are very well made. The mini Scandi for under $60 is a steal, (can't find it lower anywhere online) so if anyone is curious or on the fence, I say click the join button... You will be very satisfied with your TOPS knife, I am very happy with the two I own and will be getting this one also.

This is a fantastic, robust knife design (and compact size) and is a MUST for any true Tops Knives fan! It makes a superb kit blade and is absolutely worth the price. I applaud MD for making this available. 👏🏼

Agreed. And I meant no disrespect--just pointing out that it is funny how people do prefer different things for different reasons. Even with your point on the blade length--I totally understand where you are coming from with having a larger blade and more leverage, but I also feel more comfortable and like I have more control with a smaller blade (and that may have to do with a lack of experience with a knife). But I also think that you are probably doings tasks that I rarely, if ever do. And that if I had to do a lot of cutting I may get to the point where I prefer a bigger blade as well.

Different strokes for different folks.
Personal preference is huge in the knife world. Something I love may be despised by everyone around me.
The way I look at it, if it is comfortable and does the jobs I want it to then I may like it. Blade steel aside, those are the big two for me. Looks coming in fourth place of course.
This knife I really do like, but I can't find a "need" for it. I have handled one and it feels great, has one of my favorite steels, looks great too!

Going for the Morakniv Compainion deal. Better deal and just as tough a knife. Tops are overpriced in my opinion. Nice looking blade though.

Well, if you did an extreme torture test the Tops would probably win in the end. So let me put it this way. I have never had a Mora fail me in any task I used it for. It is easy sharpen and holds an edge well. It is a knife I can depend on. So for me the Mora wins in price/performance. I have custom knives that cost a lot more than the Tops and cost less and I love them all. Nothing against the Tops. Nice knife and looks good. Just not for me at that price point.

Unless you are working in very cold weather where touching steel is not for for your skin. Hidden tangs knives are very capable.

I've owned this knife for a little over a year. I have large hands and I wear it as a neck knife. My pinky doesn't fit on the handle but due to the handle design and the micarta I always have a firm grip. It would also be easy to add some Paracord at the bottom to give the pinky something to grip.
I have been hard on the knife and the steel has held up great, it is NOT a true scandi but in my opinion that's a good thing if you're using it for rough tasks.
The sheath is light and the knife won't fall out during use (I take it with me running and have never had an issue). It does rattle a little though. I replaced the chain with Paracord so I can draw it one handed
All in all a fantastic American made knife at a great price.

You still have the original strength of the chain, but any sound is muffled by the paracord sheath. To relieve any excessive strain on the ball chain, brace your thumb against the sheath. On the spine side of course! ;)

Good Idea, use to do this with the chain on my dogtags. keep from getting that rub line from the metal on the chain eating in to the skin.
