Product Description
These custom-designed, plate mount–compatible silencing clips allow you to mute your switches without buying an entirely new board. Great for the workplace and other quiet environments, the clips are compatible with Zealio, Gateron, and Cherry switches—and they can be installed on almost all factory keyboards with no desoldering or other modifications necessary Read More
They work beautifully, as I really wanted them for their dampening of the upstroke. They definitely require a bit of pressure to get them completely clicked into place, but no issues with plastic cracking or splitting.
The rest is subjective because it does impact the keystroke, adding a bit of a soft landing when fully depressing the key. They definitely aren't for everyone, but they are one of the best aftermarket silencing modifications! Albeit, more expensive than the recent QMX Plate mount solution.
Good for reducing sound when the switches return. in my case, there is interference on the way down between the clips and the inner side of my caps. The caps are thick PBT oem profile.
There is a firmer bottom out than o-rings and less impact on key travel.
uniqey qmk clips don't interfere with the sides, but instead my caps bottom out on the lower frame of the clip rather than the rubber.
Switches with insert molded rubber in the stems (like zealPC zilents etc.) are much better, but require resoldering and are expensive.
Would recommend the zealencio clips for people that use south facing tactile/linear switches and have thinner keycaps. Or that are willing to carve off a bit from the inside if the caps.
Does its job, but at a cost. Did research, and these will probably be your best bet in dampening the sound from your switches, but all of them compromise the travel and feel/tactility of your typing experience. Much like the silent switches, and not as drastic as O-rings, the travel is reduced and I personally (and much of the consensus of the community) do not like how the typing feelios is affected by the silencing clips. I still use them on modifiers, as my personal customization skills and DIY modding skills are still in their infancy, so they help in quieting noisy stabilized keys, which they work great for. But if you intend to use it on your alphas and such, know that you are taking away from the full experience and are solely using them for their intended purpose first and foremost: dampen and lessen noise from your mechanical keyboard.
