Testing Local Shipping in European Union -  PART 2!

This is another test.
Hey everyone, Great news! We’re ready to kick off the next phase of our local shipping test for the EU. See the talk post for the initial test here. We’re now prepared to open up a larger collection of products to keep moving toward a more consistent and better experience in EU markets. The products will be available to ship from our test warehouse in Europe with delivery expected within 5 business days to the majority of locations. Most will arrive at your door with no post office pickup, though some exclusions apply, depending on your address. All prices in this test have been adjusted to include VAT, shipping and handling, and will be in USD. Quantities are limited so do not delay.
We’ve made a collection that includes the available products here:

PLEASE NOTE: The products in this collection have been specifically set up for this shipping method. These are: · Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX Headphones - EU · Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Headphones -EU · Massdrop x Sennheiser PC37X Gaming Headset - EU · Massdrop x Fostex TR-X00 Ebony Headphones - EU · Massdrop x Fostex TR-X00 Mahogany Headphones - EU · Massdrop x Fostex TR-X00 Purpleheart Headphones - EU · Massdrop x AKG K7XX Audiophile Headphones - EU · Massdrop x AKG K7XX Red Edition - EU · Massdrop x Noble Kaiser 10 Universal IEMs - EU · Massdrop x NuForce EDC3 In-Ear Monitors - EU · Massdrop x NuForce EDC In-Ear Monitors - EU · Massdrop Liquid Carbon X + SDAC DAC/Amp - EU

Here are some answers to some possible questions you might have:

What is VAT? Simply put, “Value added tax” or VAT is an indirect tax, which is imposed on goods and services at each stage of production, starting from raw materials to final product. It is applied in EU countries. Why am I being charged in USD instead of Euros? As this is a test, our system isn’t currently set up to properly support other currencies. This will not be part of a permanent solution. What’s the quantity limit for purchasing any of these products? It will actually vary per product. Sometimes the limit is 50, others the limit is 3. The quantity limits should be clear when you’re checking out. What happens if there’s a problem with my order? If you have an issue with your product or order, the process will be the same as with our other products. You can enter a ticket with our support team (www.drop.com/support) and they’ll be able to help you out. What happens next? This is a part of the next step, but we want this to lead to a more permanent solution in giving members living in Europe a better overall experience and meet the demand of our products in this and other markets. We will keep you posted on how this rollout may happen and which products beyond those in this test will be supported.

With the EU warehouse now closed, any updates on the "expedited, VAT-prepaid shipments to the EU" mentioned in https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/eaqz6y/dropcom_will_be_shutting_down_its_euwarehouse_for/ ?

The end of EU options is absurd!! Many products are actually made here, like AKG and Sennheiser (not only the companies are based here but the assembly is made here too). You don't even create a new section on your website advertising it, no emails, no announcements by the Youtubers that you usually provide with gear and that you sponsor. The EU warehouse 'failed' because you didn't do a proper job! Ridiculous! And the answer is: 'Ah here's a link, go on and read why it failed' You didn't sell enough ?! I wonder compared to what?!! To an already established customer base in the US?! Please... get a better explanation. You have an opportunity to make money and expand to new areas but you behave like a nano company, spending money in the US when part of it should be invested in a much larger customer pool in Asia and Europe. A shame...

I don't think there will be any EU drops in the near future. Sales didn't go as planned because DROP didn't communicate properly with their EU based-customers.

Im really interested in BOTH, the HD58X and the HD6XX but what you are doing here with the so called "european warehouse" is just a mess. The only benefit of this was the faster delivery times, because customers also had to pay tax / vat when buying the "EU" version. The difference was, that it was pre-included in the higher price. Just to understand the idiocracy of this: sennheiser headphones are produced in romania, which is part of EU. Then they get shipped to the US, where you have to pay the first time TAX / VAT for importing from "non US" country. Then it gets shipped BACK TO THE EU via netherlands, which causes again TAX / VAT for importing from "outside EU country". The real purpose of an "EU warehouse" should be, that you get the sennheiser headphones shipped directly from romania to your warehouse NOT LEAVING THE EU. That would be a WIN-WIN situation for all, you and your customers, because nobody has to pay any TAX / VAT for importing. You can earn more profit from selling and customers can still save money. Why to export from EU to US and then re-import again to EU, this is so stupid. These headphones are produced in the EU - just think about this. Its not that hard to get a warehouse in the EU running. If every freaking chinese can do that, you should be able too.

Link does not work. What happened? I enjoyed the EU warehouse more than once, I guess every country has its own VAT and customs rules (to some part, in EU), but e.g. in the Czech Rep we pay blanket 15 EUR for just processing shipment from outside EU.. That seriously sucks.

What's the state of this test? I got a CTRL during the last test-run and was quite happy with your shipping. DPD itself (the german delivery company) is annoying, because they have a tendency to not even try to deliver and immediately bring packages to "package stations" (happened in my case), but it was still significantly better than waiting for international shipping. Will you do another test? Will you roll it out? And will the "Alt High-Profile" be available for EU shipping?

Oki, are there any updates on the adjusted setup for EU customers in the US store? I'm referring to this: > Second news is that we're exploring expedited, VAT-prepaid shipments to the EU from our USA warehouse. We're hoping to have that up and running by Q1 2020, and I've convinced management (at least initially) to subsidize some of these shipping costs so that pricing would be at parity with our EU warehouse experience.
