The real reason why keyboards are a community is because of keycaps. With people paying up to 20 bucks for a single "artisan" keycap, and the modularity of keyboards allowing for extensive customization, there's a huge market for products. On the other hand, you have mice, which have very few customization options, except for a select number of first-party add-ons. The only other thing to sell with mice, would be mousepads.
