[Show & Tell] What Is Your Prized Possession?

more_vert
I thought it would be fun to have a place where everyone can show off their favorite possession. It can be anything! Something super rare, something sentimental, something that is one-of-a-kind.
Mine would have to be my StudioMixer II (yes, thats what it actually is called), and old mixer that was hand built in CA in the 70's. Not a lot of these guys around, especially still in working condition.
I originally acquired it in Nashville, and recapped the entire console (took me a year with my busy schedule), replaced the bulbs in the VU meters, and generally got to know the console intimately before I ever recorded anything on it.
The sound is definitely great (nothing like some of the SSLs or Neve consoles I was on during my day job) but it was mine and that counted for something. Now its both a fun useful tool and a huge nostalgia dump for me.

Here's a fun little article I found on a studio that used the same console:

my instrument/piano is my xanax, it is one of the only things that can quiet me down and an important vehicle for my one of my main mediums of emotional expression. Yes it , if i needed to replace it , i could buy a pretty good car for less (in terms of new replacement value/what insurance needs to be on it), but even if it was a junky little spinet, i would treasure it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fetyNYJtSaE

My keyboard collection is super important to me, and a lot of it would be extremely difficult to replace if anything were to happen to it.

I don't really have much of a story behind it, it's just what I happen to be passionate about and I've learned a *lot* over the years building, collecting, and interacting with the community: )
LevelSteamso that red white and grey set is pretty nice =P

A 1971 Hot Wheels catalog that I've had as long as I can remember. I don't know where I got it or even when but I somehow still have it, intact and undamaged after all these years and many, many military moves. I still look through it sometimes.

It's a workhorse that goes pretty much ANYWHERE without complaint, (including a job that allows me to spend WAY too much on Schtuff at Massdrop), it never lets me down.

of course it's not REALLY mine -

I remember the day I went to buy this game after playing it for many hours at a friend, and continuing to play it for weeks and months after at home. #2 game right after Vanilla WoW. This box has incredible memories attached to it. I was around 9 years old or so back then.
Oblotzkyha this is awesome!

OblotzkyOh yes my copies of the Petz games are very important to me. I've had Petz 4 for around 20 years and I still pick it up sometimes--it has a small but active modding community that I got into a few years ago, I was too dumb to figure it out as a child lmao.

I could lose a lot of things but not this. I would do almost anything to keep this. I’ve owned this the longest out of all the things I currently own.

I don't have any cool heirlooms. Nor did I keep much of my stuff from childhood. I have a few prized possessions -- things I take great pleasure in. First would be my coffee setup. I have a nice kettle and pour over setup that I really love. I don't use it every day, but when I do use it, it's such a pleasure and it turns coffee from a drink into a craft. My second item would be my desk at home. I've got this wonderfully long desk. It just looks great. It gives me a great spot to put all my things (keyboards among them) and it's big enough to sit two people. My daughter and I can both sit at the desk at the same time which is really nice. Lastly, I'd say my computer is really important to me. I bought a *cough* iMac Pro *cough* and YES it's way over powered and over kill for what I need, but IT IS SO NICE. Long time Mac fan and yet I've only bought the laptops and even then, it was their "cheap" laptops. I've never had their top of the line computer. Some might argue about "top of the line" but for the things I'm interested in and do, it really is.
Now, I do expect that when the Kira keyboard comes in, combined with my laser keycaps, that could well become a true heirloom thing. I'm not kidding. But this won't happen for awhile, so it'll be just a wait and see.

Hair brush. I use every day. It belonged to my mom. She passed in 2016.
