Celebrating Our Community

Hi everyone, We wanted to take a moment to go over some of the exciting changes we made over the past 12 months, and to share some of what’s in store for the future. The largest change has been our gradual shift from group buys to "in-stock” products. Recently, we've been actively ordering and warehousing larger quantities of our popular Drop Studio products, and strategically carrying popular third-party products our community members commonly ask for. For those who still want to get in on the latest gear before anyone else, we’ll still have group buys and preorders, but the majority of our products now ship within 48 hours of your order.

We’ve also revamped our product pages so that information is easier to access. Whether it's in-depth product reviews, questions and answers, or a gorgeous photo gallery of products in the wild, you’ll now have a wealth of information to better explore and understand the nuances of what we have to offer.

In our customer surveys, the two biggest requests we've heard are for faster shipping and a customer loyalty program. We recently managed to introduce both of these programs, and the feedback has been extremely positive. Lastly, we're super excited about our new Mech Keys Builder, which lets users build and personalize their own custom keyboard. Using the Builder, you can both visualize and listen to a custom keyboard setup before you make a purchase. It’s a perfect way to test run something you have your eye on before taking the leap.

All of these changes are part of our mission to make enthusiast communities more accessible—and we're proud that these efforts have welcomed over a million new members to Drop.com just last year. The passion that flows from our veteran members makes newcomers feel welcome and accepted, while providing them with ample support as they continue to dive into their own passions. As always, we want to bring our members the best experience possible—and that goes for both our on-site experience and our physical product experience. We’re committed to refining and improving these efforts. We also have a handful of big-time product launches coming your way soon, some of which are years in the making. Thanks so much for your support and patience over this past year, and keep your eyes peeled for more excitement going forward! The Drop Team

Well congrats, I have absolutely never had any interest in the audiophile or keyboard "communities". But all the other things I have been interested in over the years are gone. I wouldn't be as annoyed, but now you're just another shitty retailer who sells things with absolutely no discount, longer ship times, and horrid customer service. Now that you're discontinuing the watches (and the collabs) you're just an objectively worse version of Amazon. I'm out. I hate "communities" and never thought of this as one, but you used to offer products I wanted and sometimes at good prices. Now you don't, I'm no longer going to be a customer.

Great to see continuous progress and intentions to improve. One thing I'd love to see return is the EU-specific shop, as import taxes and extreme shipping times/prices removes the incentive to buy many products from you, rather than finding something similar from in-EU suppliers.

When you sell things at or above Amazon's price, expect people to wait months for it, provide no customer support and in most cases no warranty then there's one word for what's going to be new in 2021 - bankruptcy.

I have pleased with your products and prices but very unhappy with instructions on audiophile products. At best they’re sparse or absent. If you partner with a company like Grace Design they want to advertise their wares and I’m sure they’d cooperate. I know the Grace brothers and they agree with this.

Is this flex payment like paypal payments extended over time?
Looking forward to new good changes I hope. I miss the old Massdrop ways when you would just sell unique high end boutique kind of items that goes outside the box. Since Drop replaced Massdrop I feel like it is slowly turning to an AliExpress that sell plenty of cheap Chinese goods. I’ve become a lurker because of this and took my shopping elsewhere instead for a good time now. I’m surprised since you own Geekhack site that you could learn from the interest checks there what the mech community wants and buys. A lot of your competitors hang out there and use it get get all the nice keyset groupbuys for their shop while you stick to only one keycap designer instead of the others who added to your fame, which you are slowly losing to these shops once again. Also it would be nice if you continue to promote new keycap designers as well to add different flavors. I can only hope Drop will get better someday, for now I’ll continue to lurk here and go to those shops for unique high end goods.

rowieAgree with missing the old Massdrop ways. Just seems like an endless parade of designer key caps which I am sure have appeal to some people or they wouldn't have so many on offer. MI still check out the products in the emails but my ordering frequency has gone way down.

rowieAre you kidding? cheap Chinese Goods? Most of our electronic products that we purchase are rebranded from China. We can believe the hype as to some German engineer designing them but at the end of the day they are mostly constructed in China.. Thank God for AliExpress. It's the only place that I could purchase the exclusive no US release Hifiman's 400se.

ebahYeah, I got charged customs but I was expecting that. My shipment got here in about 3 days, but I'm in Toronto which is a major commercial hub, maybe it's faster here? Anyway I had no problem.
