Has Drop become nothing but a keyboard/headphone retail company?

Recently, newsletters have been barely anything but overpriced keyboards and awful-looking keycaps--with the exception of a single knife in each email past a week ago. I feel like this site has entirely lost its roots--and will likely pay for that with their business. It's going to eventually wind up not dropshipping items, which would otherwise pass savings on to customers, and will instead be the sticker store of keycaps. I'll admit, sure, the majority of the userbase probably doesn't mind the fact that you've moved to be a purveyor of only that type of product, but it doesn't make much sense to eliminate the rest of your would-be customers. You could only stand to lose in terms of potential profit with the business model Drop has had in the past; i.e not putting in an order if a product doesn't receive enough interest. To be perfectly honest, I'm shocked that this even has to be said. Reducing types of products on the site means reduced web traffic; reduced web traffic effectively equates to less word-of-mouth advertising via a reduction in social media engagement; and less free advertising means more money spent trying to keep your name out there... which in turn, means less profit. And if you lopped off every other category because you couldn't turn a profit on those types of items... maybe try negotiating a cost and resale price that puts you in the green from square one. If that isn't the case, I'd love to hear the rationale behind the decision.

It’s really disappointing. It used to be such a fun site to come and see all the new drops in the different categories. You never knew what was going to pop up next. It’s barely a shell of what it used to be. How many headphones and computer keyboards can one person buy? I don’t see how it’s sustainable with barely two types of products to offer now. I wish someone else would pick up the old model and go back to group buys for cool watches, clothes, accessories, knives, RC toys, etc. I have nothing in common with this site anymore. I’ve been hesitant to unsubscribe from the mailing list in case things improve but it doesn’t look like that’s in the cards. Probably time to finally break up LOL.

And in the last year they've jacked the prices on most everything not insignificantly. I just came here to see if they had anything interesting anymore... Nope. Much as I hate it, time to shop amazon for keyboards again.

atomic_snowmanI'm not a keyboard guy, but I do have to ask. Seriously? They are working over their core audience with middling discounts? JEEZ.

PaxmanI think that the keyboards are fantastic. I bought the CTRL at the end of last year and I was thinking it was time to replace my office keyboard (which I haven't used in 14 months, so it's probably pretty darn gummed up by now) with a second CTRL, but the price has increased $40 in just a few months. When it was $185, it was a bit extravagant for me, but I decided I liked it better than the Code V3. Yes, the CTRL has programmable RGB lighting, but I really don't care that much about it. So it's the Code V3 for work, most likely, which hasn't gone anywhere in price.

Amazingly I’m more active than ever sh*t posting watch pictures until Drop ceases to exist which should be sooner rather than later.
