From a web development perspective (dev here), adding this sort of functionality wouldn't be very complicated to implement; I think it would greatly improve sales on the site. I hardly consider it to be a "spoiled" or "demanding" request.
PixelzMy comment also mainly came out of frustration that it seems half (or more) of what I'm even remotely interested in that's mentioned in the emails is US only, at least going by the past few weeks of emails I've received. The whole point behind the email in the first place is to inform, followed by actually getting the sale. Sending out an email with half of the products being ones I'm not able to buy makes customers go "well, guess you don't want my business then" which is a pity due to the potential MassDrop has.
just got a note from "Community Support" saying the product does not have a warranty and they (Massdrop) don't have any inventory so they can't simply ship the correct cord and the only option is to return the amp for a refund. WHAT?! How about instead, you get a handle on how many were shipped with the incorrect cord, ship a big box full from Vietnam to NJ and send us the correct cord! I'm not even particularly pissed about the cord error, but this canned, thoughtless response showing not even the slightest interest in solving an easy problem is infuriating. At this point I am still holding on to the idea that a bunch of these were shipped incorrectly and they'll get it solved, but I'm pretty astonished at the reply so far.
NHHifiShipping NA customers EU cords and shrugging your shoulders seems like a good way to guarantee that you will not be getting any repeat business... Someone at Massdrop should be ordering the appropriate cable in bulk or offering a partial refund so we can get them on our own from amazon. Returning a working unit because of a $5 cable is NOT the right solution.
I just set up this unit, currently using bluetooth off a chromebook. It sounds good considering the source. The numbering on my volume knob is backwards, as the volume goes up, turning right, the numbers on the dial turn lower using the 12 o'clock dot as a fixed point. Does anyone else have this issue? Are these units seconds?
pb239If you look at the legend, it says the scale is in NEGATIVE decibels, which means as the number gets lower, the value gets higher (e.g. -8 is a larger number than -25).
Would someone who owns this please give me an opinion? I like to think of myself as an audiophile, but I don't go in for esoteric stuff and I'm convinced that there is a lot of nonsense floating around about sound quality, like the notion that $1,000 speaker wires made from silver mined by deaf monks at the base of the Andes will change my listening experience from mundane to mind-blowing. Now that I have put that out there, I own a low end McIntosh amp and pre-amp and it does sound better than anything else I have, so I can tell the difference between an Emerson table-top imitation of a Bose Wave radio and a good system. What I want to know is, where would you folks put this integrated amp on the spectrum? Clearly it's not esoteric good, but is it better than appliance store junk? Is it "Hi Fi?" Mid Fi? I would like something clean and well-built to connect to my office computer for everyday listening, and I'd like something compact to put on the desk right next to the phone, and I am willing to pay what I have to for something that pays me back by being as good as it can be without getting irrational. I currently run some cheapo but very pleasing Polk Monitor 60s as my main computer speakers, but it is quite likely that I will swap those for any number of others, such as NHT bookshelf models, DCM monitors on stands, or vintage National Electronics speakers (Panasonic), two or three times before a year passes.
Love this unit. Bluetooth? Check. Dedicated headphone amp and front-facing port? Check. Banana plug capable? Check. Crossover for sub? Check. USB ready and dedicated DAC? Check. As Zeos said, the solid 'thunk' of metal on the dials? Check.
Have owned and used as my desk 2.1 for over a year now - zero issues driving JBL 530s and Klipsch sub. Highly recommend!
Ground loops are sometimes difficult to find and fix. You can start by isolating the ground. If that doesn't fix it, I'd use the ground pin. It provides some amount of safety with the subwoofer amplifier, and was included for a reason. It could also be the RCAs you're using. If they pick up interference, it will sound similar. I couldn't use braided cables on my turntable before I bought a house because I was near a power substation. Litz were better, and shielded eliminated the noise to usable levels. There could be several causes for your noise. You'll likely have to methodically eliminate them one by one.
so for now, the 69 cent grey 3 prong to 2 prong adapter is working....took a while, maybe subwoofer needed to break in...may also be the Teac and its occassional wild volume swings playing tricks with me as well

Hey Massdrop, any updates for us?
I was not in a rush to get it therefore I was ok with waiting but even so, I have my limits - I was also just about to ask for a refund.
As this is not for my main setup, but for a TV / BT setup I did not require it to get my setup working or anything,
BTW I am using a Schiit Jotunheim at my main setup with a PC and a Turntable.
talkaplan4474Yeah, I'm not in a hurry either. Heck, the estimated delivery could have been a date in December and I might still have bought in. I just don't appreciate being left with no updates, beyond the initial "It's going to be delayed but we don't know for how long." and then nothing for 3 weeks... especially when they've already charged the card.
I dont regret buying his unit but regret buying it from here. I wish I bought it from somewhere else. No warranty, 30 days only covered by massdrop. I got the random volume changing problem, going full 100%. I am not hopefuly if I go direct to TEAC but I'll try, I'm about two weeks away from a 12 month ownership, since receiving this unit. I recommend this unit, just not from here. Regrettable MD purchase.
Thanks so much! I'm guessing this is really a design or manufacturing flaw, and not something that can be fixed by way of firmware update. I like the TEAC products I've used, but this one is too "iffy" for my tastes. I guess I'll look elsewhere for a similar DAC/amp. You've expended quite a bit of effort for my benefit. Thank you sincerely.
HollowStateMy pleasure HollowState. I would definitely get this unit again if I had my time with it. Just not from here.
Edit: Let me know what you end up settling with, I'm aftersome ideas for the next one. Thank you :)
Exactly. I'd be happy to wait if they hadn't billed us yet. To take our money and go silent, unacceptable. Feels like some shady kickstarter op as if someone screwed up somewhere and/or they're covering up some **** that went down, e.g. vendor ran away with the money or something.
It's been 10 days. I'll give them 10 more. If there isn't even an update or a new projected shipping date by then, I'm out.
serifFor now, I'm also going to wait.
Again, as you mentioned, this is unacceptable to take our money and then go silent with a very vague statement about an expected shipping date.
I'm also going to wait for another 10 or so days, and if there isn't any update, I'll might go for a refund.
I would like to ask you guys, do I need a power converter since I am from Singapore with 220V/240V, 50 Hz . I don't know what voltage this device uses, can someone kindly help me?
