Designed to minimize computer-generated jitter noise, the AI-101DA Integrated Amplifier with USB DAC is compatible not only with wired computers but also with smartphones via Bluetooth aptX. Of course, the AI-101DA is also compatible with conventional ⅛-inch jacks Read More
For me, this is a great DAC/Amp. I've had it for over 2 years and still love it. The build quality is great and it is very versatile. I route the audio from the PC via Digital-In for daily use, and could even transition the unit to be the receiver for a 2.1 setup HTPC when I move out. The only downside is that it is true what other reviewers say about the Bluetooth issues, particularly with range, so if that's a big thing for you, you may want to look elsewhere.
I am pretty happy with this DAC. I use it mostly as DAC+headphones amplifier set, when I have some music listening time. Before that it was my main soundcard, connected via USB to my PC and drove the Harman Kardon Stick. Now as amplifier it drives now my AKG Kxx or, sometimes, the Sennheiser 598. It does the job very well, IMHO, with good quality flac files (most of my music are flacs, but there are some some few mp3 also). Of course, it's very personal and individual, depending on your own music style and headphones preferences, I just saying that in my case this piece does it's job not bad at all. Will I recommend it? Yeah, definitely.
I purchased this Unit for my Office.
Great little do it all product.
Has a small footprint and a nice remote that comes with it.
Setup was a breeze.
Value is great, packed with a bunch of features. I used Bluetooth the most with my phone and Tidal. Works wonders.
Headphones out is decent. I’m not having issue powering anything I own.
Bang for the buck is A1. Great unit for the office or just in a spare room.
Wow, this thing worked out better than I thought it would for what I need.
It gets a little warm when it's been on for a while. Audio quality from the matching speakers is great. I had this unit set up in my living room and the tiny speakers filled the whole space with sound. The headphone output is well enough for driving HD6XX but could use more power. I'm surprised at how many features are packed into this little guy. There's no other outputs except for a sub output so you can't use this as a DAC for an external AMP but it still manages a good job on its own. Especially for the cost of what you get. Thumbs up!
Probably my biggest regret on Massdrop. Pointometer (Volume Knob) failed on me in the first couple months, making the volume jump around on its own, often to full blast almost blowing up my speakers. Took a look on Massdrop and Amazon to see a ton of other people having the same issue. Submitted multiple tickets on TEAC's website over the course of several months and never got a response. Once got through to them on the phone, was told they'd call me back, and never heard from then again. Just save yourself a headache and get something else.
I thought this device will work for way longer than 4 years. Purchased on Apr 7, 2017
As for today, it occasionally restarts (as a result sound disappears for a second, and volume should be reconfigured). Also, I hear now some extra noise.
I think I’ve had it for a year... maybe. Used only a few times. Today all lights start blinking, no sound. After a few minutes it starts working again. Same experience others have had.
The TEAC AI-101DA is a great DAC/Amp. I've got it paired with my PC through an optical cable and two ELAC B6s on either side of my desk. The quality is solid and very versatile. The Bluetooth range isn't stellar compared to some standalone Bluetooth speakers, but I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
