Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

All that said, I would buy the MK3, it is an excellent hybrid unit, a bargain here at MD, just get a nice NOS tube, some nice cans, jriver or another DSD app and have some fun. You don't need to mess with the cap thing, it's the; I have to mess with it/tweeking crazy level thing,, unless you just have to...
What I have been listening to: Klipsch KLF 20's damn they still kick-ass, driven by an old SS/iron Onkyo Integra A-9911 feeding from a Rega Planet CD player; a Technics SL-1200 turntable sits to the side next to the Nakamichi cassette tape deck. My old slice of heaven... The TV room has the new 5.1 movie, surround, thumper, stuff. Damn nice, but not the same. Here was the paradigm shift,, really more of crossing a rift for me; can I get the sound I want from a small, really small SE tube amp? Researched tubes, extensively, web and have a library that includes Max Knoll "Materials and Processes of Electron Devices" 1959 among other dusty volumes, plus real life living Dad/Engineer:) Think budget; I got an ebay used PA0901A EL84 -12AX7 for $81, it had the baby Japanese output Trannies and switching DC supply - I liked that. The guy had it to hold him over - preventing withdrawal symptoms- while his big tube amp was in repair. I could hear the sound I wanted, I then knew, with my ears that tubes were for real, a bit, it was there, the elusive "Tube Corpuscles"... yes, I got the tube bug... now I needed more efficacy in the all so beatifically important audio sound transducers, so upgraded to eBay used (budget again and limited space) Klipsch RB61 II's (wanted front ports - can pull out but wife thinks looked better pushed back in cabinets - I still pull out and aim:) then they get pushed back:( )... the sound got much better~ but not there... put in NOS black Plate Sylvania Baldwins (ebay), yes I know 'Baldwins' just a QC check,,, sound got better-not enough,, bass/lower end not presenting well enough... more research now into audio caps, shit --- which caps? This does get more complicated... Oil/Paper/Wax/Silver/Gold/Copper/Teflon... Silk?? WTF? rock-paper-scissors... Mundorf SGO's and Elna Silmic II's went in... Eureka! It sounds nice, really nice... I closed my eyes and had Adele sitting right there on my warm wood stove, singing to me, surrounded by instruments.
Tube note: Rolled a few,, Bendix 6094's, the perfect tube, and a CBS Hytron 12BZ7 this may be perfection... but I do need to try an E80CC $$ and a Bendix 6900 $$$... That is until i make my own better ones... 300B arena would be the broader market,, a paradigm tube is yet to come... Yes, still FLAC files from a PC or phones feeding a bluetooth/DAC. I have upgraded this as well from the Grace, yes more research and trying to get beyond the hype. Hype is a nuisance you have to push beyond in this crazy "wooden box of dirt with a wire stuck in it is an earth ground" world of top-notched-in-the-head audiophiles (if anything, I never made one and measured it, it's a dirt capacitor, but that would never market well lol:). Check your house ground for heck's sake, there is always noise, address it starting there, don't band-aide; I have one of these I can borrow from work, a luxury, but I digress: http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/products.htm?item=6416&ref=gbase&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9vDZwM-E1gIVnEoNCh3HLgq_EAQYASABEgIJjPD_BwE
Now you can get better clocks than what I got in my little Chinese bluetooth DAC, that did get an upgrade to a MUSES02. I'm Going to say it *** Bluetooth-Bluetooth-Bluetooth,, look we are still alive and reading this... Focus here on Bluetooth directly feeding, digital mind you, an outside DAC of your choice, mine ES9023 (budget), and if you want DSD -- the clock, TXCO or OXCO soon, becomes very important and you are then feeding it with USB, SPDIF or Toslink, I am talking a low budget mini-me, physically small, kitchen set-up. Just wait though, really, someone may pick up on me saying it here, in the box of dirt and unlimited budget world it will come; there are small atomic clocks: https://www.microsemi.com/products/timing-synchronization-systems/embedded-timing-solutions/components/sa-31m-sa-33m-amp-sa-35m
Revision added: I confess,, I would want a DAC with a sick Rubidium Atomic Clock in it, bad, the XPRO one of course;}) Streaming side note; I have found that "hi-fi" from Tidal to be the best so far, true, others such as Pandora/iHeart are modified for your listening experience... still have to try others. Musician friends use Spotify.
