Am I mistaken in thinking that the typical new Zippo case is made of plated brass? I do want me a raw brass one, but I would like to inspect before buying as the hinge alignment is usually not-quite-perfect.
What I would really love to see is an insert with something like a cap with o-ring that shuts over the wick to keep fuel from evaporating so quickly (probably have to put a seal around the insert itself as well). Hmm, another project for me to think about. In any case I'll probably buy a peanut lighter for a backup.
Interesting to ponder Zippo's contribution the cumulative number of deaths due to cigarette smoking and lung cancer. Not sure there's quite enough evidence to support a class action suit like the one brought against the cigarette manufacturers years back, but there can be no doubt that Zippo has indirectly sent their fair share of EX-SMOKERS to the big ashtray in the sky--no doubt at all.
By far my favorite lighter is the classic Zippo. Unfortunately, it has a nasty habit of drying out after a couple weeks of non-use.
My favorite modification to bring a Zippo into the 21st Century, add a single/dual/quad butane insert. If this was available as an add-on, it'd be an insta-buy.
No, got some amazon gift cards so I’ll order it off amazon haha. I’m pretty sure I’m saving a grand total of $7 dollars and having to wait an extra month and a half....oh well, part of the fun I guess haha
I love Zippo's lighters, I've the 1932 and 1936 Replicas and I used them all the time... This one has complete my collection, looking for the 1934 Replica...
