Bricks are incredibly useful building blocks that have allowed expert craftsmen to construct incredible buildings. They also happen to be very descriptive slang term for what happens when an electronic device is broken beyond repair. PC enthusiasts are constantly aware of the possibility that any of their products can be converted into a brick with a mere power surge or poorly configured firmware update. Less modular electronics such as cell phones and console gaming devices are especially susceptible to such "bricking", and a Brick keycap is a symbol of the battle against useless and broken electronics.

Why put a brick on your keyboard? Next you’ll ask why the sun comes out, or why puppies make us smile. Recalling pizza ovens, construction workers, and old fashioned schoolhouses, a brick looks good on any spot on your keyboard and provides a sturdy foundation for further stylistic deviancies. Plus- you know- it’s a brick, just sitting right there on your keyboard. That simple absurdity should be enough.
