Make some plastic difficult to get and people are screaming with their wallets on fire.
2 hours and basically everything is sold out that more normal folks would want. Really goes to prove if you charge a premium and make it seem rare or 'special'... I mean most of it was German sewer pipe, so it is special in that sense.
To those who missed out don't forget they'll be making these or slightly modified ones again in the future, as there's obviously enough demand for people to digitally line up. You've demonstrated there's demand, just don't be surprised if they push the profit margins higher.
mrwitteI certainly hope so, but companies have made 'nearest neighbour' models, and run them when they have proven to be super popular.
I can see the run of inspired by a past great the new set is: TB SpeedDog *cough* heh
Modified just enough to be 'inspired by' and not a direct copy. This of course doesn't apply to companies no longer in existence, then you'll see some third party contract for them. Of course there's very real limits to the patents, for these type of things. So once that's up if someone comes to the manufacturer with a differently named cap design, and get's it produced, end run around you can't produce these without so and so permission.
Capitalism, greed is it's game. :-)
Edit: Massdrop is certainly charging a fat premium for these leftovers. The Minty Dolsch made it out the door for $140 according to the thread, and it's now $190(not including shipping of course). Damn! What was I saying about Capitalism? It wasn't even popular... :-/
