WE Knife has earned a reputation for its knives with premium build quality, fit, and finish. However, some of the company’s offerings can get expensive fast Read More
I asked the eBay seller about how he got caught and put on the “do not sell to” list, and he said that he listed some Spyderco Knives on eBay below MAP. It kind of surprised me that he did that.
Notice this is “9”Cr”18”Mo, harder and more corrosion resistant than 8Cr13MoV typically round in lower priced knives, pretty similar to 440c and pretty low maintenance.

Personally, I think the tan handles and the blue liners look pretty great together in contrast, though I wish the tan was a tad warmer colored.
Edit: Hmm, maybe they don’t use vanadium?
Yes, you are correct.
I should have mentioned, that I was talking about the Praxis Knife.
I was thinking about Civivi knives, in general. I think the Naja will be my second purchase.
Sorry for the confusion that I created.
: - )
Ugh. Joined the drop even though it was full blown retail price....and now I get the email that the drop is delayed 🙄
Yeeeup, cancelling that shit.
I don't get how you can place an order with the company close to 3 weeks ago (again I'll say, a company you already have a strong working relationship with), yet can't fulfill the orders?
Failed on getting us a deal, failed on delivering the product...succeeded only in getting an interest free short term loan 😒
Yeah. It's just diappointing cause I'm getting into EDC and literally every site (gearbest, here, bladehq) I've bought from last month have done this. They take massive orders to get economy of scale, which is totally fine, but actually have no plans to fulfill that order. They wait until it's profitable for them and lead you on with false deadlines. Whenever you ask, they give u a carrot like "1 week later" then move it again.
bigdaddykimWell, to be honest, I've ordered dozens of things here, and only had this happen once or twice. This one just irked me a little extra because it wasn't really a deal to begin with
This place isn't perfect, but I wouldn't say they do that on the regular.
Anyone in CA, you get taxed despite free shipping. No reason to buy here and wait a month for delivery. Get it somewhere else instead, the shipping usually cheaper than tax. Most retailers also offer free shipping if you spend more than $100
I just realized something. When you said "Anybody in CA you get tax"you were talking about California not Canada right? Lol oh well at least it still made sense to you. 👍
Laxnerd213I'm actually glad that the new versions of the Baklash don't have blue liners. It was cool for people who wanted color accents but this makes the design accessible for people with more traditional tastes. Has anyone tried swapping liners between versions?
Don't buy this here. You can get it for precisely the same price and get it right away (for example bladehq). Apparently group buying doesn't net savings anymore. smh
aitmikeWell, this does reach a whole new group of people. Not everyone here, shops for knives elsewhere. This is their source.
So why not promote here as well? As a matter of fact, most who come here, don't shop for knives elsewhere. Just us knife nerds do.
Some, don't need a knife the day after tomorrow. The more places a product sells, the merrier, correct?
You guys talking about MAP pricing is entertaining at least! You guys have no clue how manufactures work and pricing structures form. You only see one side, remember there are many moving strategies and parts to products...and manufacturers have the right to refuse service.
I think there is a side to the business that we don't understand. Some purchases might not make sense for us in the USA because we have so many choices.
TortoiseThunderYup, I'll never understand that argument either, sorry.
If you literally mean choices, there are dozens of online shops that ship globally.
If you mean some things are better deals for overseas buyers....
Just because price plus shipping to Australia is a good deal, doesn't mean MD did their job negotiating a group buy discount if they're still listing base price the same as everywhere else.
Sale price is what matters here, that's what MD claims they can effect with their group buy model.
What they choose to do with discounting overseas shipping is up to them. What they make up for in volume of foreign sales should supplement the reduced shipping rates, that shouldn't come out of the domestic buyers' pocket.
In simplest terms: once this is back in stock at WhiteMountainKnives, i can get it CHEAPER there with a coupon code that's readily available to anyone 24/7.
They obviously are still making a profit at 10% below this cost over there, right?
Therefore, MD had ZERO negotiating power on this one if they couldn't even get us down 10% like standard retailers and a youtube reviewer's coupon can 🙄
I've been looking at it this whole time like they should be able to get better than average discounts with WE in particular, given their symbiotic relationship with the collabs....but i'm starting to wonder if I have this backwards.
Maybe MD agreed to get them more sales at average retail price in exchange for the better pricing we get on the collabs?
Which would mean they're looking out for the retailers, not "their community"
Either way, i can't find any angle on this one that makes sense for their proposed business model, for this drop to have listed at the price it did, or for it to have failed to deliver on time.
If you have another theory that makes sense, something more than just "I guess we don't understand all the details", i'd love to have you change my mind.
Whether we get any of it right or not, I enjoy the theoretical discussion and hearing sides I haven't considered
bigdaddykimthat's the point. Massdrop is great!!, but I thought the whole point of the company is to bring items to the public below what we can get anywhere else. it's frustrating when this isn't the case as seen here
I just got my Backlash in the mail, I don't think BladeHQ will have an issue. This is more of a cornflower blue than a BladeHQ blue. The picture on the drop makes the blue seem much brighter, this is more of a blurple. Still a great knife for the price though.
