MenuhinNo. Polycarb is not the same as the normal plastic that you might be used to. It's a thermoplastic that is a lot more durable, and for this purpose, has a lot better photo diffusing properties than plastic. It's actually not molded, but CNC'd into the shape you see.

If you look up the price for Polycarb from manufacturers, you'll also see that the price is very much in line with what they're charging.

Hi Everyone!
We're happy to be able to offer customers from the first Clueboard drop the opportunity to purchase the Polycarbonate Bottom from the second drop. These will be part of the same production round and delivered in the same timeframe as the recently completed Clueboard drop.
The price is the same as the difference between the Decorative Pack and the Deluxe Decorative Pack, so you can buy safe in the knowledge that your early bird status hasn't cost you anything. :)
skullYHello Skully, is it true that the next time the Clueboard goes up on Massdrop, it'll be the new revision that doesn't have large gaps near the edges? If so, any ETA on when the next drop will be? (Super off topic and far off, I know, but I'm crossing my fingers it won't be that long.)
SlayerageIt depends on how the production timeline goes for this drop. We may squeeze one more drop of the current design in before that design is done.
Yea, I get that the top case and plate are one piece, but the drop description doesn't even mention that you need that specific top to work with this piece.
dohmainExactly. Which is why I suggested additional phrasing should be added so consumers know one can only use this product as it is intended if one already has an aluminum Clueboard. I was simply noting how confusing every aspect of the wording is, and can be, due to the unique nature of the most recent Clueboard design.
