This looks pretty interesting as I am thinking of some (southern hemisphere) winter paddling over the next few months. I already wear a PFD so is this going to offer any advantages for me? I am kind of thinking that the sleeves and shoulders should be polyurethane and the front and back (under the PFD) wicking. Or does the polyurethane core act like a wetsuit?

Would this jacket work for a rafting trip in hot weather? Or would it be too warm?

matt98030It probably depends on the water temperature. I’ve done paddleboarding in a thin wetsuit (2/3 spring suit) in 70 air temp and roasted...until I jumped in the 55 degree water and then it evened out a bit. If you’re rafting in a cold mountain river in hot weather it might be refreshing if you’re getting sprayed.

The neoprene on the chest and the fleece insulation on this jacket make it great for wind protection while paddling or activities around the water. Yes it is meant to get wet while keeping you warm but it is not waterproof
