Best socks ever! My only complaint is that when you have a drawer full of various DT socks, you can't really tell which are the thick ones, which are the short ones, etc., without pulling them out. But it's okay, I'll survive.

Just an FYI: I always hang dry my merino wool clothes.
They last way loner.

First, Darn Toughs are my favorite sock. Strong and resilient, they last a long time (years). My only criticism is, that they may need a little more Lycra in the blend to make the sock fit better. Buy them more for light hiking and recreation.

Versatile and durable.
Despite being wool socks, they are breathable enough to use for summer hiking. They are also helpful for keeping you warm in wintertime. I've put these through a couple hikes in the marines and they've help up admirably for 6-9 miles before I felt the need to swap them out. Even after the hike where socks would usually stink, they didn't smell as bad as normal set would. So they can handle longer than usual wear times without much of an issue. The addition of nylon to the wool helps with washing and overall durability. After two years, I do notice that the material has thinned out a little but not to a degree that affects their overall performance.
