Once again no space bar kit or 2nd B.
Guys you're killing me with this. I want to be able to buy DCX sets but you need to offer what the $25 clones do.
You guys really need to update all sets without these to offer them.
You have the molds, you used them in the WOB set and others. Just use the molds you have!
Damn, one of the more aesthetically pleasing DCX sets so far for me!
"Damn" - because unfortunately it's another infuriatingly-crippled kitting... and it's now reached the point that one of the main draws of DCX; its supposed "Value over GMK!", but it's not even true anymore when you see just how gluttonous the kitting is in the pile of other vendor keysets coming out right now! And for the same—but more-often LESS, actually...—price as these DCX sets.
It's at the beginning of it's life, and already DCX isn't even justifiable out of sheer principle & market supply... Against some vendors that aren't even close to being as big or profitable as Drop Corp.
Well you did say their "GMK clones" which I would take to mean the PBT Dysesubs that approximate the cylindrical sculpture and row profile of Cherry. CXA is much closer to the spherical faced DSS profile. And to be pedantic, while being doubleshot, they are a ABS/PBT blend.
SchmittABI would actually like to see a mods kit that looks very close to what they are now, just subtly darker. I'd buy the base + kit for sure if that happened.
I got my first DCX sets in the mail today, and they are striking. So I'm super excited about it.
please just start with releasing more viable colorways. you have the opportunity to really compete with gmk by providing popular colorways at lower prices + in stock but choose to fill the dcx catalog with mediocre sets like this. 9009, oblivion, olivia, ascii, serika, etc etc should all be at the top of your list (with proper permission from the designers). it is frustrating to see DCX go the way of MT3 in terms of confusing colorway decisions
haha I got you dude!
Yeah, the set is killer, and a welcome take on one of my all-time favorite colorways. 🎯
CK is also just great (themselves as a company & for the hobby in-general), and they work with some of the best hobbiest-designers in the 40's community.👍🏽
Although I do agree with the ABS preference point, and hadn't considered that difference as I was making a generalization about 9009 as a whole (and GMK is not the only ABS 9009... but are you really arguing 9009 has been underrepresented right now...?) - you seemed to have kissed both of my points completely:
1. 9009 OG has been done a hundred times, all through custom keycap-making history—overpriced aftermarket brand-gouging availability aside, this set isn't even reeee-motely comparable to GMK compatibility & variety - if anything, it's those PBT sets you disregard that actually DO come close to including GMK Base Kit kitting, in the more-expensive to tool & produce, for the same price or less... so no; I actually don't get YOUR point...
And to bring back your own argument in the same way: regardless of the fact that PBT is much more expensive to multishot compared to ABS, PBT should cost MORE than this for their kit-size then, no?
And 2. You seem to have missed my love for 9009 and retro beige kits in-general. Although I have enough faith in you NOT trying to argue that 9009 = every other beige+gray, your personal tastes have nothing to do with the viability of a colorway (as shown by you considering this set a waste of time & "going the way of confusing mt3 colors" - and wanting more Front-Page Reddit sets instead. God, am I glad this hobby isn't only dictated by the safe-&-popular crowd...)
My main point being, if it's going to be done, again, and you're going to USE that "spot" on such a weak keyset option, you might as well give it SOMETHING new to justify it.
Other than that, all I can say is vote with your wallet, start participating in the community-proper—off of Reddit—or save up for an actual groupbuy so you don't need to ride the "but GMK resale!" pain lol.
People have been shitting on GMK because of what hypebeast resellers *keep making Reddit sales for* for far too long, when there's plenty of actual valid reasons to skip them for the time being...
