If I was a storm trooper and got taken to the cleaners buying this keyboard for $500, I'd smash it over the head of the fool that told me to buy it.

Drop ALT from eBay: $80* Ceramic white case: $90 pre-order DCX WoB: $45 (if bought as a BOGO) Total: $215 (potentially $250 if buying switches or you pay full price for the keycaps). * Assumes buying a second-hand ALT gives you the PCBA, stabilisers, diffuser and switches. I think it looks great, and I personally love the ALT and think it's a fine keyboard even in 2023. However, IMO $250 would be top-end for this and a $199 early bird pre-order would have had me snap one up. $500 would certainly get you a much nicer keyboard elsewhere.

Are there a couple of extra keyboards I get that you didn't list for $500??!! I'm a mechanical engineer/product designer. DROP is listing that items are "hand placed". That does not add $300 in extra cost. On top of that, how else are foam and lube added to other keyboards? It's not automated so this can't be the cost driver. Ceramic coated frame... that's not a $300 per case process. DROP- please give us some details on this cost.
