If you're VERY particular (like me) then its worth the price. It's VERY solid and heavy and that lends to feeling like its top-notch build quality. Also, The RGB control is easy and all-around VERY happy with the purchase
This was my first enthusiast mech keyboard purchase, and I'm almost entirely satisfied. The red finish is striking and is a good match for many keycap sets out there.
The box was well protected in shipping and every key worked properly after plugging it in. After considerable difficulty setting up my exact keybind configuration with QMK, it has been great ever since.
Swapping keycaps is very simple using the provided puller, and that's when you should blast with some compressed air to clean out dust below the keycaps.
The included switch puller is completely unusable, absolutely terrible, and will scratch the coating right off the aluminum frame.
The LEDs surrounding the keyboard hardly diffuse, and their exact position is obvious.
The LED diffuser layer is the worst part of these keyboards' design, but that's my only dissatisfaction otherwise.
Unless you absolutely love the red aluminum finish, wait for a sale on the other CTRL models.
There's nothing "Signature Series" about this other than Drop's decision not to offer the red aluminum frame outside of this model.
really like this keyboard, not crazy about the halo trues it came with, bit mushy for my tastes, but I can swap those out easy peasy on this board and everything is pretty great. no complaints, its heavy and well made and the RGB isn't too overdone.
If you like the CTRL, you’re going to like this. Came with switches & keycaps, which stayed on for about an hour as I had to replace it with something much better.
I meant solid junk in a good way. Beautiful and hefty keyboard. The accompanied Halo True switch is a pleasant surprise. It has a lofty feeling when type, like tip toeing on air but never touch the ground. However, the experience is forceful and tiring for the long run. I ended up keeping them on the "function/directional" keys but swapped out the main section with my preferred tactile switch, the Boba U4T.
Now on to the bad. The stabilizers are bad, lack of foam dampening, and perhaps an option to choose the switch would be nice. I understand why the keycaps font are the way they are to accommodate the north facing LED but I don't like them at all. But all of the aforementioned issues can be fixed with some TLC at a cost.
Overall, I still give the Sentinel 5 stars for being a solid foundation that can be built upon.
This is my first keyboard that I've purchased outside of the "popular" brands (Best Buy product) and I will say I'm glad I decided to drop the money on this thing. I love the feel and sound. It feels extremely sturdy and the switches are very nice.
Stabs is not good. Rattling.
It is in the best condition after doing the lubrication mod. Fun feedback from a lubricated Halo True switch, a keyboard with an attractive design.
The dark red colored housing accentuates the subtle RGB lighting. It seems that I can use it for a long time without getting tired of it.
