Hi everyone, we have been working with Dwarf Factory to put in place some resolutions to common issues experienced by those who already received their keycap holders. You should have also received an email communicating these—I am mentioning here as well so anyone following along has the info too.
Regarding the "Dark Tower" variant:
We have received a small number of reports of the LED on/off switch at the bottom preventing the base from sitting completely flat.
We have been working closely with our manufacturer to produce a user-friendly thicker foam pad you may use to replace the existing pad. You would simply peel off the old pad and stick the new one on. This new foam pad will create an extra cushion so the LED on/off switch does not interfere with the surface and will lay flat. For any new purchases, this pad will be pre-installed.
We expect to have the pads available in mid-October 2024. If you would like to request a replacement pad, feel free to respond directly to the email (or contact CS if you did not receive an email) and we’d be happy to ship one to you.
Regarding the "Wraith Circle" variant:
It has been brought to our attention that there are a couple of issues mentioned below that may be affecting the Wraith Circle keycap holders.
Sticking: There’s a small number of reports that when pressed down the keycap becomes stuck in the holder.
Leveling: The LED on/off switch at the bottom may be preventing the base from sitting completely flat.
We have been working closely with our manufacturer to produce a new batch to resolve the aforementioned issues and we will ship a new unit to you free of charge. Due to our mistake, you are welcome to keep the original one you received.
As for the details on resolution, for the sticking in the holder, our manufacturer is adjusting the tolerances of the holder to provide extra room for the keycap. The replacement units will also come with a new pad installed on the bottom, ensuring it sits level. For any new purchases, the units sent will include the fixes described here.
We expect to automatically send and provide tracking to everyone for a new unit at the beginning of November 2024.
If you have any questions, please respond directly to the email (or contact CS if you did not receive an email) and our Support team will get back to you quickly.
As always, please leave any questions here and we'll do our best to answer.
Not super stoked about the quality. The battery base was secured, and failed, with hot glue. Pulling the Sauron eye keycap off the top pulls out the core switch, also secured by hot glue... for $100, would've hoped for better quality.
AzraelianThat's just the number of requests since the preorder ended, we sold many many more than that. An order will be placed and a new preorder will be opened soon.

OH MY SAURON these are frickin' amazing. The only thing that would make it better was if it had a built-in battery for light effects.
Aaaaand I just read it's battery powered. This just reached must have level of LOTRO gear.
Talk about unnecessary and useless.... ill take both. How is it that you guys know exactly what we want when we don't even know it. My desk is basically an advertisement for drop at this point LOL
MxMoonSame! Haha. Get up in there through the battery port on the bottom and wire up a microcontroller to the switch. It's not trivial, but probably not too tough. 🤔
