Hmmm, now this is interesting, a new product for Drop! I don’t know much about it yet other than it’s a USB mic that looks more modern than the Blue Yeti, and it seems to have different modes than the Snowball I have.
I’m trying to treat my home studio right now for less reflections and reverb (my dad’s restaurant donated a ton of egg crates for the off-camera walls, and I just took delivery of some light gray hexagon echo absorbers for placing on the back wall behind me when I’m on camera. I have to stand up and draw things on the wall and use a larger space, but for most people they will have a significant audio quality boosts just by getting a foam bifold or similar which sits just behind the microphone 🎙 (and camera, if you’re on video).
Treating a whole room (and especially isolating it with sound proofing!) is expensive and time consuming!!
If only their software suite actually worked on Windows 11. ***UPDATE*** See my comment below for details, software issue resolved on Windows 11***UPDATE***
1) It's not the firmware causing this particular issue, to my knowledge. I don't have this mic. I have other EPOS products that rely on the software (which is the same version for all of their hardware)
2) ***UPDATE*** EPOS support got my previously-shown-here issue resolved. For the first time in *ages* I have full use of my EPOS hardware and software combined. I no longer have reservations recommending EPOS products now they've finally fixed the issue.***UPDATE***
3) If their software actually functioned correctly (see above note), I'd honestly highly recommend a lot of their stuff. I'd probably buy this mic. As it stands, if you use or plan to upgrade to Windows 11, I can only recommend their software-agnostic products (which is mostly their 3.5mm jack equipped stuff, plus the GSX-1000).
I received one as a review sample prior to release and its not a bad usb mic but it doesn't out-perform any other USB mic around the $100 range ie. Blue Yeti, HyperX, Elgato Wave etc. There's nothing exceptional about it except its "newer". Functionality wise, its all about the same. Nothing ground breaking.
