nick_t It means there are two groups of people in this world: One group who believe expensive, aftermarket headphone cables actually improve sound quality, and Another group who sell expensive, aftermarket headphone cables to the first group. In my experience, it's best to avoid both of them.

nick_tThe design is scientifically sound (no pun intended) to be, and are, superior for clean transmission. They're typically used with a fully balanced system. Given the cables on their own however, whether humans can audibly notice this difference is a point of contention. Based on the limitations of the human ear it is likely true, that alone they have no audible benefit (inferring a placebo effect). A fully balanced system, with higher impedance on the headphones, has been said to sound a little better with claims of better sound-stage. I can't personally comment.
