How do they 1000's work with a short cable like this?? Thinking of buying for my nephew as I don't game...

Older VR sets do not have built-in speakers/earphone and microphone. They do provide a 3.5mm jack for you to connect your earphones to. The problem is most earphone cables are about 1.2m in length and therefore will be tangling around. These are only 16cm in length which should be more than enough to have the earphone hang around your neck area.
