Is anyone familiar with the Suunto ambit3 peak? How is this in comparison?

I just returned one of these because of the ABC sensors being very unreliable even though they're the main feature when buying a device like this. For example, while sitting at my desk during work, my altitude went from a recently calibrated 600 feet to 65,000 feet to negative 65,000 feet in about a 6 hour period. That said, the watch was extremely comfortable for its size and if you're willing to gamble on a device that may not work it's definitely worth the price. Check Garmin's forums on the Fenix 3 and you will see my ABC issues are not unique and have been ongoing for years.

Not at all. This watch only does hear rate monitoring when combined with a Garmin HR monitor.

No. This one does not have one. Look at Garmin Fenix 3 HR (https://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Fenix-3-HR-Gray/dp/B01A5HIQ7Q/). That one has the Elevate technology that enables wrist monitoring. But it will not be as accurate as a band. It is $336 new on Amazon as of posting ($299 for refurb)

I do not care for plastic bands, I always buy metal.

Same here. Silicone and plastic bands retain moisture and make my arm smell funny and feel funny. Metal doesn't.

If this is the same one, I guess the answer is that it does not include heart rate monitoring (and is a good deal vs. Amazon)

Checked with Massdrop; this is indeed the one: And to quote Brian himself: “It looks like for any type of heart rate monitor you have to purchase the correct accessories. The reason why is that they have found the heart rate monitor in some watches not to be all that accurate. So the more enthusiast product that delivers more accurate results would be one like this one along with the correct accessories you would need. They are not included. Is this wrist based heart monitoring? Or do you need a band?

Come on Garmin, if you want to flush older model watches at least throw in a 50% discount like what Suunto did.
