Hey Everyone, Here's a very important update about the Godspeed SA Custom Keycaps. To catch people up on the situation, I'll quickly explain that keycap production is essentially completed, but the packaging is severely delayed. The quote/warning that we're getting from Signature Plastics is that it will take 60 days for them to take all of the keycap sets and pack them into the plastic trays. A week ago we made the decision to move ahead with shipping the keycaps in the typical way that Signature Plastics ships their keycaps, which is in a plastic bag. We did this with the expectation that the majority of users would prefer to get the keycaps sooner rather than later, and the loss of packaging wasn't a major concern since it was consistent with the experience that has always accompanied SA profile keycaps. I want to stress that as a company, we are indifferent to the two options and simply want our users to be satisfied. It appears that there is a significant group in the community suggesting that they would prefer to delay the product ship date, in order to accommodate the packaging. Understand that this delay is of an unknown duration (60 days is an estimate, and our experience is that estimates are usually overly optimistic). So moving forward, we're going to offer two options to all group-buy participants. They can EITHER opt to get their keycaps shipped in standard "bag" form, in early September, or they can wait to receive their keycaps in a plastic tray in a cardboard sleeve. Logistically, we'll need to hear from people soon in order to separate the groups of orders and coordinate the different packaging. We are giving people until August 28th to notify us of the option that they want via the google survey link below. If you do not respond via the survey, you will automatically be put into the (late, with packaging) group. Once you've filled out the survey, you will not be able to switch your option. KevinI don't want to further complicate things, but would it be possible to have the caps shipped in bags along with the empty trays? I think in your previous post you said that production of the packaging itself would only take 5 days, but the delay was due to manually sorting individual keycaps into the trays. Would it be possible to put the bags of caps and empty plastic trays into one box? I would definitely rather get the caps earlier, but it would be nice to have the trays too.

Narf_DropI second this. I don't mind organizing the keycaps myself. Much better than waiting 2 months for someone else to do it for you. It's just not realistic from a logistics standpoint.

KevinHaha, yeah I figured. I think your earlier decision not to wait was the right one, and I’m a little confused by all the outrage in the comments. Like, was the packaging something that factored into people's decision to buy this set? I don’t think Drop ever advertised special packaging as part of the product. (Maybe MiTo mentioned it?) It seems like people are getting bent out of shape over something that they didn’t even know was on the table in the first place and just want to complain to get discounts. But I’m sure there will be a bunch of people that would rather wait and have everything come in nice organized trays over bags if given the option, so it’s cool to see that you are offering people a choice. It would be nice to have an option to get the empty trays, but I see how it would complicate things even more. Hopefully more people will be satisfied with their choices.

Keeb.ineerYeah I filled the form manually :) but a) I got no confirmation the form went through and b) I always inform vendors of potential bugs if there are issues (such as not receiving emails) to enable them fixing it if needed.

Meanwhile I'll try to post updates about the packaging production (I think that's underway now), followed by shipping it to America and getting the collating going. We don't hear a lot from SP once they're packing so don't expect too much in terms of updates on that front.

To me it makes sense, it seems better if you default to an option that doesn't give you less contents (albeit, the box was really a gift from MiTo to us, but not everyone sees it that way). If they didn't respond and wanted the earlier shipping option, that's on them for not responding. I opted for the bags as well, super excited to get them ASAP!
