Like others have noted, my fan also pops out if I turn the keyboard upside down.
But it is still a great looking piece and it's great fun to spin the fan.
The final product is highly detailed and well-made. It will accurately reflect the intent of the 3080. However there are two unavoidable drawbacks with this product:
The anodization will pick up fingerprints. It is easy to wipe away but it is also unclear whether this will cause longterm damage to the product.
The fan is not secured via friction tabs, magnets, or any other securing mechanism. Turning the unit upside-down will dislodge the fan and you must be careful not to damage or lose it in the process.
It doesn't fit thematically on any of my keyboards, but it still makes me very happy to have.
I'm fortunate enough that the fan on mine is functional and not falling apart on me, so there's that.
My first 3080! I've since gotten a few more but this was the first. Heavy weight and thicc, it stands out on my 65% keyboard, where I'm using it on a split spacebar. I like it because it is on the left side, which I rarely use, but can slap it hard if I'm writing emails with authority.
The little spinny part pops out if you hit it to hard though, just pop it back in.
It feels great to press and it looks great.
the fan spins for a pretty long time and it sounds good.
my only qualm is that it’s angled towards me instead of being at the same angle as my other keycaps.
I imagine that was just an oversight on my part with the profile.
This is as close as I'm going to get to a 3080 anytime soon, I guess. But I think it's cute as heck. It's well made, except that it's just a tiny bit big. The fan spins amazingly well, but remember that the fan isn't actually attached to the keycap. All in all a cute have to have novelty keycap.
I got two of these (one for a friend), and as other reviewers have noted, the fan on one of them is loose and falls off its ball bearing. However, the other one I got doesn't have this problem (and still spins like no tomorrow), which suggests to me that the fan falling off is a defect. Will see if I can get an exchange on the defective one.
gdchenCurious if you were ever able to get a replacement for the unit with the broken fan, I would love to do the same so I can stop losing the fan. For now, I just have the cap sitting on top of my GPU in my case, because it's unusable :(
