On average, Americans use roughly 500 million plastic straws a day. Add the rest of the world into that equation, and it’s not hard to see why metal straws are a no-brainer Read More
Pointy/raises hand
I almost always have a pair of reusable glass straws with me, and two sets of reusable plastic cutlery for myself and my bf. I carry them because I decided that I should do my part to help cut down on the amount of plastic that ends up in the trash.
I so wanted to like these, I got annoyed with all the plastic landfill.
The problems I have with them:
1) Drinking ice smoothies would conduct the cold brilliantly... making the outside too cold and wet with condesation.
2) Chipped teeth.
3) Walking and stumbling while using these... a metal rod into the back of your throat... and thoughts of my children falling while using one?
So I rarely use them, and for other times just stick with compostable plastic straws.
Not that I need straws, it's just those smoothies and my beard... don't mix.
WadoeWardellCountyComm has a yet larger diameter Ti straw. The Poseidon. As a fire starter I like it best. Also excellent for large volume sipping. Picked up a couple to try next to the Unique pieces. 10$ apiece. Too big for some, but I feel they are an excellent bit of kit.
I bought the bent ones from amazon(I think) and they're great straws. Very solid feeling in hand, you could probably drive one into something or someone if you really had to. I've bought other reusable metal straws and they all had a metallic taste where as these don't seem to at all. Anyway, I just ordered the large straws hoping they're big enough for boba
IanEDCI concur @IanEDC. I have the bent one as well and it great. The bag and the cleaning brush are nice to have as well. Going to pick up the large ones too.
