So after waiting for almost 2 months I got a mail saying that my order was cancelled because Klaurus couldnt keep go with the orders.. im getting a full refund and all but its a bit disappointing..atleast give me the option to get another flashlight.. I really needed one. .
If anyone from drop is reading this.. please get some more flashlights.. There is clearly a demand for it..
I decided to pull the trigger anyway in spite of the battery woes discussed here as I can get by with that aspect given the quality, lumen output and size at this price. It was supposed to ship today, been waiting for over 2 months now-hoping I get some correspondence to in regards...
"Compatible batteries: 1 x 18650 Li-ion Battery"It does not take 18650 batteries, it only works with the included 18650-sized battery. Here's a video explaining it.
I have one of these (not purchased through Drop) and I've carried it more than any other light since I got it. Pros: Great output and runtime, and I love the button/paddle Klarus interface which allows for immediate access to both maximum and minimum outputs. Cons: I wish the lowest mode were lower. Mode spacing would be improved with a low mode between lowest and 100lm. Pocket clip is not reversible. Biggest con: The battery isn't a standard 18650, you need to use the specific Klarus battery for this light and charge it via USB, it will not charge in a standard charger.
chaosmagnetCould I put in a standard 18650 battery, if I chose to charge them outside the flashlight instead of using the microUSB port on it?
Edit: Got my answer, no, I can't. It's a proprietary battery, which means Klarus is basically lying about what the battery actually is by calling it an 18650. At best it could be called "18650-style", which makes this flashlight an absolute hard-pass.
