I bought LyfeLite bulbs in the first drop. Checked them all charging and running each for about 12-15 hours. All work as expected, all lights up when I kill the fuse in my home electrical fuse box. Some observations. Packing cartons are very thin and weak, one came unglued and bulbs were banging all around the shipping box. No damage to the bulbs. They came slightly precharged, so I think company checks them before shipping. They are larger and heavier than regular LED bulbs and stick out a bit from the fixture. The light output is in not even close to claimed 800lm/60W, they are as bright as the regular 40W LED bulbs, maybe around 450-500 lumen or less. To LyfeLite defense there is a disclaimer on the box that says light output and wattage may be lower then advertised. It is lower. Because the base of the bulb is large the usable dispersion pattern suffers, it is no more than 195° beam angle. On the plus side, these bulbs have color temperature close to advertised 3000K. I estimate around 3200K-3400K compared to my other 120V LED bulbs and the color temp app on my computer. CRI is on the higher side to my eye it's about 90 or higher. I was surprised how bright they are when charged and running from internal battery - one bulb can light up room pretty decently. All in all a decent LED bulb if you know what you are buying and have reasonable expectations.

I found the manual that seems to be very useful https://www.qvc.com/footers/el/pdf/V36004_LyfeLite_Instructions2.pdf

Anybody use these things? How many lumens when on-battery? And what does the "Power Cap" do? Is it just a "hanger" that went through the marketing department? Or is it needed to turn the light on when it's not in a socket?

awkI haven't used them, but I found this on the Survival Warehouse website (https://www.survival-warehouse.com/lyfelite-emergency-led-bulbs-4-pack-800-lumens-soft-white.html (interestingly, couldn't find this info on the LyfeLite website)): "Don't have a flash light? Don't worry with the LyfeLite Power Caps you can turn any LyfeLite Emergency LED Bulb into a portable light source. The light bulb not only stays cool to the touch you can hang it anywhere in your home." Enlarging the photo of the Power Cap, it appears there's a black button on the end that I'd guess is used to turn on/off a charged LyfeLite. In other related news, in just my casual searching for this information I found that this drop is a heck of a good deal compared to other sites selling these bulbs, being cheaper than other sites selling half the number of bulbs/Power Caps. That said, not sure this would do me any good since most of my primary light sources are receptacles that use floodlight-style bulbs.

The ad does not say whether the light output is warm white (2700K) or cool white (5000K).
RavenroyThese are actually soft white bulbs. 9w = 60w equivalent and actually 800 Lumens

RavenroyJudging by one of the pictures on their web site, the "soft white" is 3000K.

Dumb question, how does it know the difference between being turned off versus a power failure???

They say the bulb knows the difference between being turned off, and a power failure. Sounds like magic, but that's what I wanted to know too. Here is the text from the instruction sheet referenced in a link given below: 1.  Screw your LyfeLite bulbs into any lamp or light fixture.  2.  Turn the lamp or light fixture ON just as you normally would.  3.  Leave the lamp or light fixture ON for 8 hours to fully charge the  battery. The battery can be charged hundreds of times after being  used with power outages.  4.  For best results DO NOT mix LyfeLite bulbs with other types of  bulbs in the same light fixture.  They might not work properly  together causing the LyfeLite bulbs to remain on even when you  turn the light switch off.     While your LyfeLite bulbs are in use, you are charging the internal battery that will act  as a power source the next time you have a power outage. During a power outage,  our revolutionary emergency lighting lasts up to 8 hours, and you can still control your  LyfeLite bulbs by using your light switch to turn them on and off. Very simple, but  extremely reliable and convenient!      As an added convenience, we have included 2 Power Caps with every 4-Pack of  LyfeLite bulbs. To use them, just screw the Power Cap onto the bottom of your charged  LyfeLite bulb and hang it anywhere you need additional light. You can turn your  LyfeLite bulb on and off by pressing the button on the bottom of the Power Cap. Please,  don’t forget to recharge the bulbs after use.     Here are some important details about the Smart Chip inside of your LyfeLite bulbs:     The Smart Chip detects a power outage as soon as it occurs and activates  your LyfeLite bulb’s battery to provide up to 8 hours of emergency light.     The Smart Chip protects the LyfeLite bulb’s battery and prevents it from  overheating or overcharging.     The Smart Chip can also tell the difference between a power outage, and  when you turn your light switch off or unplug your light fixture. This  allows you to use your LyfeLite bulbs just like standard bulbs, even  during a power outage.

I ordered the LyfeLite 800-Lumen LED Light Bulbs. However, I received the 450 lumen version with only 2 power caps instead of the 4 as advertised. I bought these bulbs based on the 800 lumen spec. The Massdrop offer also states that these bulbs are "rated to last nearly 20,000 hours". The packaging states only a 10,000 hour lifetime. I feel that this was a 'BAIT & SWITCH' experience. Is there any recourse available from either Massdrop or LyfeLite?

Here is an excerpt from the instructions that will answer many of the questions people naturally have about the bulbs that are not adequately addressed in the overview: 1.
