My high hopes were derailed by reality
The order was placed 11/14 and delivered 12/21, normal for Massdrop - so far so good. I tried 3 different batteries and it wouldn't power on, even after letting it sit for an hour each time. While waiting I tried to reverse the clip and it broke.
I'm really disappointed in this. I've had a similar aluminum one for years and it's been a real trooper. I was just hoping for an upgrade.
On the positive side, I emailed support on 12/22 and received a reply on 12/26 from David Q. He offered 3 options:
A. Keep it and get a Drop credit for $15.
B. Keep it and get a Drop credit for partial refund for $10.
C. Return it a refund at no charge.
I chose to return and on 12/30 he sent me and RMA. I boxed it up & dropped it off at UPS on 1/7.
Considering this was during Christmas/New Years holiday I think this was a perfectly acceptable response time. I was on vacation myself so I didn't get it sent back until I got back to work myself.
Bottom line is 1 star for the light, 5 stars for customer support...assuming I get my refund promptly.
Would not recommend to a friend.
