VeggieMilkshakeHe is right -- the USB socket is just tacked on to the board is quite fragile. The backplate doesn't provide any support as the socket is recessed and "floating". This device is typically connected to a 60+ lbs. PC via the rather short USB cable. Moving the PC without disconnecting the cable can yank the socket right off of the board or stretch the thin metal enough to make it inoperable.
No other consumer devices (phones, headphones, video game controllers) have USB ports this flimsy.
