Any suggestions for a ~$100 amp? I was looking for a deal but since mine have shipped early I guess I ran out of time. I was look at the FULLA 2 or OBJECTIVE2 - B STOCK. Or even a FiiO E10K USB?
Going to be using them with my pc for music, movies and games.
Ender1183I like the Fulla 2 better than the O2, personally. But the microUSB jacks, at least on the Fulla 2 I bought earlier this year, are pretty fragile, so be super careful with them if you get one. (I had to send my Fulla 2 back to Schiit for repairs after carefully unplugging and replugging my microUSB cable like a half dozen times.)
Ender11836XX's @ 300 Ohms - better the new $99 MAGNI 3 AMP + $99 to $249 MODI 2 DAC when the wallet is in the mood. FULLA will power the 6XXs, but weakly.
Ender1183I think I will be going with the Aune T1 SE MK3 that is dropping right now: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/aune-t1-se-headphone-amp
It has great reviews and can power the HD6xx at 240mW which exceeds the recommended 166mW. I heard one guy say it sounds better than the schiit stack...
Ender11832 - USB signal and power via source
2u - linear AC power plus additional coax and optical inputs
2M - upgraded Audio Devices 5547 Multibit DAC (as in Bifrost, but not upgradable as in Bifrost)
Ender1183I've been using an Objective 2 from Mayflower Electronics with a Sennheiser HD600 and a Beyerdynamics DT880 (600 ohm) and a Focal Elear, among others, and it handles all of them well without adding coloration of its own. I'm real happy with it for that price.
Ender1183Not sure about E10K, it doesn't look very powerful (200mW@32), but the first time when I tried HD650 they were connected on a Fiio K5 amp (1500mW@32, I don't remember which DAP was docked) and it was an utterly gorgeous pair, very dynamic and very fat.
kxrider85I like Pete Millet's Butte DIY project. http://pmillett.com/butte.htm
It's on the lower end of the power spectrum for 6xx but it gets the job done.
JesssterI have an Onkyo receiver, and there is a static-y sound on anything I play, the headphone amp in those receivers is something they might add on if they have space when the receiver is finished
Ender1183I ordered an Objective2 from their B Stock. Loving it so far. Small scratch on the surface (scuff mark would be more accurate) that would definitely make me upset if I purchased non-B Stock, but it's not even noticeable once I have it placed on my desk and saved me $30, same warranty and everything. Headphones sound great on it, can't wait to try the HD6XXs on it, however.
Also, JDS' shipping and support is superb. I had a few questions for them via text and they were super responsive. I ordered soon after and somehow they managed to ship my order like 10 minutes before the order timestamp, which made no sense to me (same timezone, I think). I ended up receiving it less than 48 hours later.
