So I've had my HD6xx's for about a year and a half now. Recently they started to develop an issue where if I put a slight amount of pressure on the right cable plug near the ear cup sound cuts out. This happens if I slightly tug on the cable or more often if I'm wearing a sweatshirt that can bump the cable. So my question is, has anyone else had this issue and managed to resolve it without sending their headset in for repair? And failing that do I have grounds to get a warranty return/replacement? This isn't an issue that is magically going to fix itself and I want to get it sorted out before my 2 year warranty period is over.

MattingtonI had a similar issue and isolated to a cable issue. I asked RMA if they can send a replacement cable only but unfortunately I had to ship the whole thing back. Drop was nice enough to provide a return label but no having the headphones for a month does hurt as shipping has slowed a lot.

PoonslayerIt had not occurred to me that it might be the cable that is issue. So to test I swapped between the stock cable, a hartaudio cable, and a periapt cable. It seems out of the three only the stock cable works without this issue. So to summarize, the cable doesn't appear to be seating itself all the way when using third party cables which is what is causing the audio to cut out... but only on the right side. Weird. And Disappointing. I'm quickly beginning to see the downside of proprietary stuff. I'm also not sure what if any solution there is here because I really like the hartaudio cable.

MattingtonI have 2 sets of stock cables (regular and balanced). Each time I plug a set into the headphone slots, either the left or the right side doesn't work. I remove and plug them in again (on occasion, a third time) and it works - this happens every single time. Then, it mostly works till I unplug them. So, I am guessing it might be an issue with the 6xx cable slots, and not the cables themselves. The slots seem like a secret chamber into which I have to try and fit the cables. I have ordered a set of non-Senn cables. I will let you know if I face your issue (not that it will help you in any way).

MattingtonJust a tip: the two pins are slightly different thickness. Look at the stock cable, with the “R” or “L” markings pointing outwards... that is how the pins should be arranged on all the cables. And, well, some connectors are just made better than others 🤷‍♂️

MattingtonI have barely used my HD 6XX in the two years I've owned them (since October 2018), and the other day the left side started fading away out of the blue. It took a few times unplugging and plugging back the cable connector before the left side started sounding again. I baby my headphones and always connect the cables slowly and gently, so I assume those little pin connectors are the culprits. Nothing like that has ever happened with my other headphones.

raansire7Fading? That doesn’t sound like a cable issue to me, at least not on the headphone connector end. Have you experienced the same issue with other sources (different amp, computer, etc), and made sure the termination was fully connected to the source?
